We can post here anything we find that might help us all.

I just got a book from a wonderful friend and just started reading it. Wished I had had it when my husband passed away.

Widow's Journey by Xenia Rose published by Henry Holt. Widowers may want to read it also. There are many points of interest for both genders. Who are we now? is just one of the issues addressed.

I came across this saying.

Watch your thoughts, they become words.
Watch your words, they become actions.
Watch your actions, they become habits.
Watch your habits, they become character.
Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.

another one.

Starve bad habits and feed good habits. (road side sign)

Returning you to your regular channel. Take care.

Thanks Liz. Will look for the book. I find staying busy is one of the best helps for me. Normally I am okay, at least 11 months out of the year. When I do have the pity party I try to think of others worse off than myself

Yes, I had my pity party this month also. Rest of the year is ok. It was actually worse this year, because I was so numb last Christmas. Everyone was walking on eggshells around me. Ended up helping them feel better and that helped me.

Reading the Secret is helping me also. Maybe it will help ya'll too. Keep warm, safe, and you can make it thru the holidays.

When my wife died, I went to several of the grief groups at the local hosiptals. Even my own parish started a grief group but it encompassed all forms of grief. Then I found WIDOWNET on the Internet and those people there were very helpful. Since we were RVers, I joined Loners on Wheels, a singles' camping group nationally with chapters in every State and in some more than one, FL has 5 chapters. Anyway, I joined the PA LoWs and again, those people were very helpful & not all of them were widowed.

what i found most helpful was I kept telling myself he was in a better place...and that really did help...I watched this man go for being a total man to disliking even being here because he no longer was....his passing left me alone, but I was so happy that he was free.....another thing that helped was, and maybe this is being busy...was I found ways to fill times that I knew were hard...such as weekends...believe it or not I took a weekend overnight job, worked Fri and Sat overnight....which because of the need for sleep, meant it took up a good part of Fri and Sun....that way I wasn't invited...tho it was out of the goodness of peoples hearts...I felt like a fifth wheel.....this solved the problem....and then no one was tippy toeing around me....reading helped...i think self help books can do a lot for you....andd then I read and saw the movie...The 5 People you meet in Heaven...that really helped...and still does...am now reading One More Day, same author...wonderful..
