this is very arbitrary. there are so many great guitar players, past and present. i'm sure you'll get quite a response from people. but if the choices are only what in in the list, then. with all due respect to the others mentioned. SRV was a monster guitar player.

Not sure but, after watching the Eric Clapton "Crossroads Guitar festival" I was blown away by the sheer talent of so many awesome guitarists. I couldn't pick just one! ...and the way Jeff Beck played was magical!

Prince is the only one ive heard of. He was once described as a toothpick in a purple gown. Maybe so, it doesn't take away the fact he's a superb performer. My favourites when doves cry.
I was lucky enough to see page in concert at 02 centre. He played so hard and furious spurred on by bonham on drums, I noticed a trickle of foam on his chin. They were brilliant.
Got a few decent pictures on phone. Also like jeff beck, hendrx, phil lynott, carlos santana, the edge from u2, tom petty, Charlie birchill from simple minds. Floyds. Roger Walters and gilmore.
David bellamy from muse is uks mad Mozart. He's in battle with his guitar as though its the devil himself. He is a genius. Multi talented, can play several instruments fluently, oh and there are is ofcourse chriss hind.

Shoot.... throw in James Young and Tommy Shaw..... both from Styx
The lead ride(s) from Renegade (Young) and Too Much Time On My Hands (Shaw) are 2 of the most recognized in history.
And when in doubt..... I just say ME!!!

Saved Tommy Shaw's life by TELLING him he WAS joining DamnYankee's and he WAS going to stay sober and drug free.
Good friend, Damon Johnson, (also an awesome guitarist) was known as the 5th Damn Yankee.
I could be known as the 6th or 7th but the project has been put on permanent hold.
That's why I'm doing HVAC work!!
