In Firefox under "Tools" got to the "Options" and under "Options" go to "Advanced". Under
"Advanced" there's an "Update" tab where you can uncheck all the boxes for automatic updates for Firefox and all your add-ons.

FYI not updating your browser is like not updating your antivirus, it's the computers main window to the world and the biggest entry point to malware. I'd suggest downloading the latest flash player from adobe directly, and keep firefox up to date.

I agree with you. But why the Add-ons all of the time? Foxfire, always updates itself, without having to update the Add-ons. I have Adobe Reader 9, which always updates itself too, plus Adobe flash player.
