I am just starting out making chocolate candy for fun. I have been getting various molds, etc. I figured this is a good hobby that I can enjoy with my two kids.

Yes...it's a lot of fun. Terrible for the waistline though!
I've made a lot of different confectioanary over the years and sold it at markets etc. Some of the most popular ones are the choc dipped fruits. Dip or half dip dried fruits such as orange or lemon slices, apricots, bananas, dates or ginger into chocolate. White choc is really good with apricots and bananas. Dark choc is good with ginger and lemon.
The dried lemon slices dipped in choc was my own idea. I call them lemon zingers. It tastes like sherbet in chocolate. Delicious!!
I have a really great book for making all types of confectionary. I have had a go at honeycomb, toffees, marshmallow, jellies.....you name it I've probably tried to make it.....except liquorice. I'd like a recipe for making that.
I had wanted to make the chocolate itself from the raw ingredients but it's too hard and takes too long without special equipment.
Have fun making a delicious, sticky mess with your kids!
