She received full welfare benefits (which she still has to this day) almost immediately. After I found a job, the state took 40% of my gross pay for the kids when she filed for legal separation (with her mom's money). At court, her mom gave her the money for the best attorney in town. I barely had enough for an attorney. Because I was living in a one bedroom apartment, the court had no choice at the time to give her full legal custody and joint physical custody (joint meaning one weekend a month, 2 weeks a summer, and either Thanksgiving or Christmas). She also gets 33% of my gross pay. She has not had a job (nor has been looking for one) for over 2 years. And for some odd reason, she blames me for her financial condition.
