I stumbled onto this site while searching for information on Helvetia, WV. I thought it was so interesting and found it too good not to share with my fellow travel junkies. =)

Speaking of interesting travel websites, have you ever happened upon the "couchsurfing.com" website? Very interesting place to make new friends from all over the world with similar interest----TRAVEL. I only joined a few months ago, but have been contacting people in areas that I have interest in traveling to. I am hoping to be able to stay with some of them----not to save money or find a chep place---but to be able to get to know the real people of the area and learn about their culture and way of living. I love to travel and am looking forward to going to Australia next year and staying gone for 4-5 months. I am planning on using Aust as a base and tripping through the southeast asia area.
Hope all your travels take you to interesting places and keep you in a safe enviroment.

Happy trails----Joe

I am going to Panaman and Costa Rica in January. I will be staying with friends in Panma for two weeks then going to Costa Rica for two weeks. I haven't been to Costa Rica before. Does anyone have any suggestions of which part of the country to stay in or what resorts to stay at?

I visited Costa Rica..It was nice, but I was in a remote area near the black sands and all the good attractions were to far to travel to....
No one goes on the beaches with the black sand..To hot and to dirty..Make sure your locaction is near your interest of attractions..

I loved watching the volcano near Fortuna (North of San Jose), small town, beautiful Mts. Loved the Pacific coast near Tamarinda (not sure of the spelling). I had a great time!

I've traveled all over the world during the 40 years I spent as an International Tour Manager.

But, this weekend I'm headed out on my first true vacation ever....not that I didn't have the "bestest" job in the world. It's going to be interesting to watch someone else do all the work while I just enjoy the sights.

I'll be visiting Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Will have lots to tell when I get home in August.

I've got a few stories to tell right now...about fuel charges, the new rules for checked luggage and, of course, those little "official" 3 oz. bottles for liquids. But, don't want to discourage anyone who has decided to travel.
