I know the feeling. One of the effects of Crohn's is acid reflux. Not a very fun feeling.

I don't have either of the above, but I do have IBS, irritable bowel. Still makes it very difficult to work anywhere, with that. Pretty hard to do much of anything, when you gotta run to the crapper every 20 minutes or so. And my primary won't even give me anything for it, either! He wants me on an antidepressant pill, of which I CANNOT take, and he knows I can't, from too many side-effects. But he won't give me anything for my stomach. Like I've said on here, I could write a book.. Medicare only covers 80%, as well, so even if I can find a good GI doc, myself, my finances as they are, who's gonna pay that 20%???
If anybody has any suggestions as to where I could for help with this problem, please don't be shy in letting me know what you think. Thanks.

I dont know about in MI. But here in Georgia there is a cuople of state hopitals that are really good. Thats who got me striaghtened out. As for the bathroom part yeah its a drag. But look at this way when dealing with the symptoms lifes always a race. I race to the toilet, to the nearest gas station when I'm out, Or to the nearest bthroom I can find.

I have been being treated for crohn's disease since 1988. Have gone through several surgeries and a few feet of intestine taken out. Lost one third of my spincher muscle back in 1988 so I have a hard time trying to hold bowel movements in and at times leak in my underwear. Guess you know that I wear sanitary pads like a woman and they aren't all that comfortable. I feel for you women every month having to wear those things. Well talking about being on the run all the time I have to carry a roll of toilet paper in my car with me. You have no idea how many times I have had to pull over and run into the woods. I can be thankful for one thing...haven't met up with any bears yet. The hardest thing to deal with having crohn's is trying to find a woman that can accept you the way you are. My disability may have been caused from agent orange chemical warfare in Viet Nam. Just another kick in the pants for us unwelcome back home Vets of that error.

Has anyone ever told you all that these disorders are affected by a couple of things?
Correct these or pay close attention to them and you might just see a MAJOR difference.
First, of course is the food you eat. Dairy, spicy, and red meat all send these disorders into high gear.
Second is stress/nerves. If your stressed out alot, course your bowels suffer, hence so does your rear. Some may have stressful jobs or home life, that can not be avoided, but HOW your deal with it can make a big difference. Calm your mind, calm your system. Put yourself a duck like mods. Let the chit slid off your back, not only will you find your day becomes easier, but your body will react, start to relax and there will be less time in the potty, and the "mad dashes" will be get less and less.
Trust me, it does work, speaking from experience.
