My dogs like a blanket of mine. It is not unusual for pets to miss their person when they are gone and to refuse to eat but if that goes on too long it becomes the problem. Is there anyone close to you that the cat knows well that can stop in to pay attention to her when you're away? I'm sure there are some cat lovers that may have a better handle on this. They have each other but they like their schedules uninterrupted. Lately, I have hired one of my son's high school friends to come by the house when I am gone more than a day. She will stay with them for an hour and feed them to their normal schedule. She knows that I am not rich so we work out a fair price. It especially helps if the sitter is a cat lover or owner. If you must be away, try a pet sitter, someone she knows, to come to house and PLAY with her, not just feed and run out, she is a pet, she is sick at heart when you leave! Consider adopting a cat-who-likes-other-cats as a playmate, and also make sure she has a climbing tree, toys, etc FIve days is a long time to leave a pet alone, I travel often, too, and I know it is hard on my cats.
