Started to get aquanted with my new farm toy today, this is the 1944 model R Minneapolis moline tractor I just bought on e-bay this month, Removed a front wheel hub that would not turn, I have a feeling I will know this tractor real well before it is runing As the cluch needs work, steering does not work, I think its one of thouse need everything tractors.

Not much of a toy but historically it is cool--it is a double bottom plow from the Chattenooga Plow Company--also marked International Harvester--steel spoke wheels and a fixed rear guide wheel. It is painted orange--not red---seems as if International bought Chattenooga Plow in 1909 and they used the Persian orange paint color for that one year ONLY---so it is old and a bit rare. Proudly displayed at the driveway entrance...in its original condition. I also have 2 tractors with lots of 3 point attachments and a John Deere 410B Backhoe. I have a 35 ton log splitter to do the firewood.

The original International Harvester Company started out as P and O Plow company. It was founded in Canton, Illinois. At it's peak, it was a 35 square acre plant. In the mid 80's, it merged with Navistar. The Canton plant closed.
Sometime in the mid 90's, an arsonist set fire to the Canton plant. It was a total loss. The entire 35 acre plant was destroyed. The fire burned for 3 days.

Lets see here.......one of my favs was the 9600 JD combine or the several of them I was able to operate on several custom harvest crews back in the mid 90's. I grew up with JD 8630 and 8640 4 wheel drive tractors putting out around 400-450 horsepower and pulling anywhere from 43 foot chisel plows to 60 foot wide springtooths and wheat drills. we also had 2 12 bottom plows for spring tillage after the winter months. Hey, I was born on around 20,000 acres of wheat farm in southeastern Wyoming.....

Went to a Threashing Bee Yesterday with all old John Deere equipment. Tractors were all the old style JD's B's & A's & G's allso old a old D that did the threashing allso a GP did some of the wagon pulling. They allso Ground hay & corn at the same time with a Hammer mill, Baled the straw from the threashing, Sheled ear corn, unloaded grain with a round elivator. They allso plowed for this they had not only JD tractor & plow but Oliver & AC tactors & plows. I took my John Deer Horse power there and it got a lot of attechen as I found out many JD collectors did not know JD had made horse powers, one tolled me he had lots of books on JD equipment but had never seen a horse power in any of them. A big supper was had by all after the work was done.

I hope to go to an estate farm sale this thursday and with luck I just may find me a brand new farm toy? there is around 60 tractors on it and I do like some of them. Maybe thursday night I can tell you what I suprised myself with? Or maybe not. lol My birthday is very soon and this looks like a good place to shop for my present.I'm hopeing for a 1934? WC Allis Chalmers with steel rear wheels, motor is stuck. Tarctor looks pretty good. or a Farmall F14? a F 30? The 1st miniapolis moline Z made in 1941? a case DC 1951? or how about a McCormic Deering thrashing machine? Most of the toys there will be John Deere and unstyled.

Billy goats are just nasty critters. It wouldn't matter anyway. I would not watch my dogs murder them and that is what would happen. And......I don't want anything else to take care of or be puttin back in the fence.

Today is the day, a two day farm toy sale being held in only one day just 5 miles from my farm, this should be fun even if my purse is nearly emty!! When I say toys I mean lots of old big tractors, and catipillar's and machinery mostly John Deere, Farmall & cat but there are others allso Oliver, Case, Allis Chalmers, Miniapolis Moline ect. More unstyled JD's than I have ever seen sell at one time. Have my eye on a Farmall F14 on steel but it's anyones guess what I may get if anything?

I guess I had a good time at the sale today as I'm broke now!! I and a friend maybe did more than expected as He bought 3 JD tractors and I bought 2 Farmalls a F14 on all steel and a F12 I allso bought a tractor mounted cross-cut saw, it mounts to the rear hitch and uses the PTO to drive the saw. I have never ben around one and only seen them in a couple of pictures. I do think one of the pictures it was mounted on a F12 or F14 If anyone can tell me anthing about one or a story about one would love to hear it?

Anyone that want's to see pictures of what I bought at the sale you can do a search for Ottawa Drag saw, And you can find 4 pictures of a F14 tractor and saw just like mine only I don't think my saw is an Ottawa but some other make much like the Ottawa. I don't know how to do pictures myself. my tractor is just like the picture, my saw does it's sawing on the right side of the tractor as to the left side in the picture.
