I've been on DH since May 2011. I found out about DH from another website. A guy mentioned the forums on here, and that's why I have stayed so long.
I have met a few select locals, so there is a slim chance I might meet you. I've met many people from all over the country, because I posted with them in the forums and got to know them through Skype, Facebook, Voxer, text and inbox messages.
Here's what I've learned:
Long Distance Relationships (LDR's) rarely work out. They are the exception to the rule. And eventually one person has to move to the other. Or they both move to a new location together.
There are some scandalous, shady, and fake a** f**kers on here.
Haters gonna hate. People will hate you. People will love you. Could be the same people. There's some moody people on here.
Rumors will fly behind your back, no matter what.
Stay for the friends. The awesome ones who put up with all your shit.
They will be the ones to console you when your heart hurts.
They will be the ones who never leave your side, no matter how far away they are.
They won't judge your flaws, because they know we all have them.
And they'll tell you when you need to quit feeling sorry for yourself and go out and have some fun. They'll be right by your side, buying the first round of drinks.
Last thing I learned, and this is the most important....DH is like the Hotel California. You can check out, but you can never leave. Once you get stuck in the forums, you will ALWAYS come back. Make sure you pick a profile name that you won't be embarrassed to hear out loud in person. This is what people will call you at meetups, even though they know your real name.
And you want to meet people. That is why you're here. Right?
