Wow, that was really interesting! Most my aunts and uncles were born at home. One aunt died as a child from diarrhea. The once a month hair washing with egg yolks or borax...yikes!

i was born in 1944 and no bathroom a galva bath that came in on friday night and pots of water on the big old black iron fire grate and a big copper water bioller, and the lav was up the yard lol, my dad a plumber and his mates got him a big cast iron white enamled bath from some where, the kitchen was big so he fitted it in and mom made a curtain, all finished the big capper bioller on blocks so could fill the bath, they never got to use it, the bsa moter bike factoery was close and they made guns, there was an air raid and a i ton bomb went through the roof of the kitchen but never exploded but it smashed every thing to ruble, my mom said its the only time she sor him cry,

sorp. thanks for the article. I came across an old newspaper ad from l974 that i have in my radio room . At the time you could get a new ford with factory ac and a free 23 channel cb radio for under 4 grand !new ltd. and pickup trucks for under 5 grand .

I love the 50's, Sorp. You'll have to come up with a list of all the fun things we did and played with. Life was simple, fun and safer back then. Remember those metal cars that you climbed into, with bicycle type pedals that made it go? No battery chargers but equally as fun.
