Alot of us (short) guys do not have a choice on the height we were given. So why is height such a big deal to chicks. I have heard that it is because they just prefer tall guys and that is just bullcrap to me. I want the god's honest truth and here is why.I went to Maverick's(Honky Tonk club) and when I tried to talk to some females, I got blown off like it wasn't anything, but a guy in a cowboy hat that was 6 ft tall walked by they would get stupid over him and I know for a fact that I look a hell of alot better then him. So my question is what is the deal with a height requirement and what difference does it really make??? And please feel free to tell the absolute truth because it will not hurt me one bit for I have been rejected my whole life but your opinion does matter to me.

It's a fair question. I'm 5'5 3/4". I don't personally care if a guy is tall but I do like them at least a few inches taller than myself. I've talked to my woman friends about this topic. Although it sounds outdated many feel that they feel more protected with a taller man.
We all have our biases and preferences. Some people prefer a shaved head, bbw's, slender, certain ethnicities, etc. I believe in being respectful to all people. However, in a romantic partner I prefer a very bright, lean/athletic man with a great head of hair and good teeth. Some women don't care about height at all. If the women are passing you by at outings these are probably the wrong women for you.

It just seems a little hard to find out what kind of woman would be right for me if they are to afraid to talk or hang out with me to get to know who I really am. But I see your point rocket..

Same reason men prefer a certain bodytype, is preference. I'm attracted to tall men but it certainly is no deal breaker if he is shorter. Heck I'm short..he wouldn't have to be all that tall. lol

I think it depends on the woman, some are glued to their requirements and others look beyond just height. I personally have dated shorter guys than myself, I am around 5'7 but if he made up for the height in the ways that mattered, it didn't stop me from being with them A man can be shorter and be so much taller than others in a woman's eyes when you meet the right one. For the women that don't give you the time of day, there will always be another to notice you and take the time to know you better A tall guy is nice arm candy, same can go for the woman, but if they lack what you really need it gets old quick...it's all about balance I think.

Now AJ, you KNOW I think you are one sexy lil f*cker regardless of your height. If I wasn't freakin AMAZON Woman, I would have dated you in a heartbeat! Some women are insecure (like me) and with a really tall man, they just feel, ummm safe. I personally have to date someone my height or taller. I have dated men shorter than myself and I just felt like a fat blob next to him (my insecurity, nothing to do with him) even when I was anorexic.
To be honest, this thing that you have gone through your whole life, is no different really than people who wont date anyone who is overweight, who is of a certain race, certain sex ( ), hair color, religion....the list can go on and on...these are the people that will miss out on something WONDERFUL...
I had a preference once (for a VERY short time til I woke the hell up)...."ONLY date men that have dark brown curly hair, blue eyes, are 6'2"+ up, MUSCLES galore, LOVES ME for ME, makes great money, a sappy/mushy man, killer smile & great humor".....UM YEA, there's no sucha thing! I was in dreamland....
I came to realize, "alright, I am a tard...I just need to give every beautiful hearted man a chance, regardless of race, height, religion, eye color...I just need to check everyone out...the love of my life could end up being someone I totally do not expect, but knows how to treat me and just love me the way I want and need to be loved.."
So, I always said I wouldn't date a bald man...hahaha...my shallowness...damn it all if that is ALL that I seem to have dated this year...BALD MEN!!! I LOVE IT NOW TOO....BALD MEN ROCK!!!!
So aj...those girls, were the WRONG girls.....whomever has rejected a man such as yourself....well they werent worthy of you anyways!!! You are one of a kind babe.....She's out there...and she's waiting for you! Don't be afraid to approach...you are beautiful inside & out regardless of your height!!! The one that wins you, is going to be a VERY lucky gal! I mean that with all sincerity & love babe!
Love you hon!

Well stated.
But maybe it was just the guys hat?
Also what many people overlook is that it isn't necessarily the guys height, oft times it is the stereotype that goes along with it. IE: The little man complex that he is being discriminated merely because of his height and therefore feels that he has to prove he is as big and tough as the taller guys.
It's a scenario that plays out the same everywhere. So much so that bouncers and bartenders are trained to keep an eye on the shorter men. The only times I have ever been engaged in physical altercation at a tavern or lounge has been when a short guy decided to prove he was bigger than his stature.
It's like the bald guy starting an argument accusing somebody of discriminating against him because he is bald, when it is never even considered or noticed.

The BBC had a program called something like 'Secrets of the Sexes', in which they did a pretty in-depth study of what exactly it is that attracts men and women to one another.
They sent them on dates, had them do speed dating, rate each other, they measured pupil dilation, brain waves, heart rate, etc. etc. etc.
Not a dating show, more like a science experiment.
The results?
The number one attraction factor for men was chest-to-hip ratio, aka the famous 'hourglass figure', the number one attraction factor for women was height.
In typically dry British fashion, the researcher had advice for the guys:" Forget the gym ,forget the cologne, forget the designer clothes - be tall."
There were, of course, other fasctors, but those two were the clear winners.
In the real world, the VAST majority of women want the guy to be AT LEAST 3 or 4 inches taller than them - and, yes, that includes heels, hair, cowboy hat/tiara or whatever other adornments and accoutrements she comes with.
If the top of her head/hat ends up below your chin, you've cleared hurdle 1.
If the top of her head/hat ends up somewhere between your chin and your eyes, you're borderline, and final 'acceptance' will depend on a host of other factors.
If the top of her head/hat ends up above your eye level, chances are, she will never even want to spit on you.
There are exceptions - there's always exceptions to everything - but they are exactly that : exceptions.
Generally, the current 'lowest standard' (regardless of how tall the girl is) seems to be 6'2.

Being 5'9-5'10 myself its hard to find a man taller than me especially since I like to wear heels...To be honest it doesn't matter his height but it is a little disconcerning when I "tower" over a man and if he is on the skinny side too, wowsers! Makes me feel huge! The last guy I had a serious relationship with was 5'7 he loved my height...I think its more the womans insecurity than a mans...

Well I would like to add my 3 cents worth in on this and say to you man is don’t worry about your height.
I’m 6’1 and even I get over looked.. Some one pointed out about being to tall and she is right. A lot of women I’ve meet are scared over the fact that in some cases I’m over a foot taller then her and with working out and being close to 220 I have a lot of size to me.. Which again is also a negative for some woman!
And I’ve even been told I was far to intimidating!
Some women are afraid of bigger men, now this could stem from being beaten by a man or pure intimidation of the man being just so much bigger then she is.
But whatever it may be the fact in life still remains no matter what EVERYONE has a “standard” as it were for what they want in a man, IE Tall, skinny, etc you get the point. That it’s hard to get one clear-cut answer what or how to look.
I also found what someone pointed out from the BBC was true the more I worked out the less women approached me. When I was “normal” and didn’t work as much just kept fit they would stop me and talk to me more.
So it’s all a gamble on the person just be happy with you! I know that statement sounds like a hallmark commercial but its true.
When I just stopped worrying about it all, my life became easier. Women are intelligent creatures when they think your doing something to just impress them they will ignore you. But when you are yourself and show that you are confident about being “of a shorter stature” in your case the right woman will approach you.
I would trade being a little shorter any day of the week.. Being about 5’10 that’s a great height!
I hope this helps…..

Let me tell you ajw being 6’ 3’ and a power lifter all my life I found I intimidate man/woman and beast. But get to know me and you’ll find a good heart. There’s a lot to be said for the small to average man. Just coming from the opposite end of the spectrum. Hang in the Brother!
