I am one of those people who likes it best when my partner and I have settled into our relationship and know a bit more about each other. I am glad when the "trying to impress" stage is over and we can be ourselves.

same here...i much prefer a relationship than the "dating thing"...when 2 people connect & have shared interests, it's the best feeling in the world..but unfortunetly there are some who just want to play around with other people's feeling...i feel sorry for them, they will never truly find happiness..

I agree. The courting is nice and exciting, but the relationship really gets interesting as you learn more about each other. For me the emotional and mental connection is important.

It's been awhile since I was in a relationship, and I wonder sometimes if I will remember how to do it! But yeah, it would be nice to be over the initial nervousness and wondering and re-thinking every step and word and thought... and just relax into something great. That would be ideal.
But I wouldn't want to get so comfortable that there is no spontaneity or excitement left... I'd still like a few surprises every now and again.

dating is good and can be very exciting and fun! not to mention your never bored!!!
the initiation of a relationship is excellent.... the long stares.... the lingering hugs and kissess... the long conversations
i just hope that when i get into a lasting relationship that the "initiation" stage lasts because i dont like it when it gets boring and you just dont seem to have the time anymore for the good stuff

The putting the best foot forward is great in the beginning but, I too am glad when this phase is over and you can be more of yourself. I strongly believe that impressing is good but always be honest about who you are.

everyone is talking about the impressing shit..
hell just be yourself always thats whats wrong with almost every thing in the dating world people being what i call fake!!!
just always strive to be yourself and if they are right for you they will love you for it!!!!
everyone!!! stop trying to cover up who you are!!

I would hope that the person I am connecting with is 100% genuine. Many hours of communication prior to actually meeting the individual would hopefully shed light on the true character of that person.
When I am communicating with that someone special, I ensure that I present myself in my truest sense, my flaws along with my positive traits. If the person you are with in a relationship cannot accept your shortfalls then you are surely in trouble.
