From some of the rude, insensitive, and downright attacking posts I have seen in here that have never gone away, and had this been one of the forums I used to mod and I would have disappeared them in a second, I would have to guess that is true! 
People are entitled to their opinions, but no one is entitled to do that, especially from 1200 miles away.....

It's all part of the free-bee game, the socialization, errr....or the lack of it. It's made to look rude so that you click on the paying dating site links.

It is an illusion. Some of us are real though.
I really believe if we had more traffic in here, they would periodically check up with mods to the WI Group. Eh, some times they follow me around due to my long term membership.

It's funny...
I'm on OKC - don't make a lot of effort there, but there. It's free as far as I know unless you want to be on the "A-list" so you can stalk people in private. Been there a while.
I'm on POF - Been there since 8/2005, had some success back in the early days. Have more privileges on there like can approve other people's events, light mod stuff, and create my own events and they go live right away. I used to hold events all over WI in the early days - got them known in WI, but now I let other people do it
Let's see... Zoosk... Don't pay, but have managed to bury all my contact details in my profile if you read between the lines. They send you fake messages on behalf of other people saying hello. It's easy to tell because the person never looks at your profile until AFTER you read their "message"... they play other games on there too..
Played with Match.com for a while and actually subscribed on and off. i would subscribe, and 2 days after I let it expire 3 girls would send me messages and I would pay again so I could read them and they were fake BS - they got a class action lawsuit out of that one. I'm still on there, but don't pay it a lot of attention.
Yahoo Personals was really fun when it first came out and was free. Every skank on the internet was on there looking for every other skank and it was fun to watch. Then they switched to a pay model and all the skanks disappeared, but the pay model gave women a break over the guys so they had more women but they guys couldn't message them - I don't know if that is still around or not - haven't heard of it in ages...
American Singles didn't last long....
eHarmony.com can be really flipping rude. I have a profile on there but haven't subscribed in ages and they keep begging me to come back. Once in a while I will go on there and turn on my matches on free weekends and it matches me with people who meet 100% of my criteria to run the other way. The last one was an unemployed chain smoker with 4 kids who spend most of her free time in bars and had no interest in working, plus lived 100 miles away. Yet I have a number of very nice friends who have sat down and filled out the stupid 500 question profile only to be told they are not the kind of people that eHarmony is looking for.
There are probably another 20 or so that I can't even remember my logins or passwords for and haven't been on there in 10 years but my profiles are still coming up in the results.
Basically I just hang out and try to work on my social skills interacting with other people, and if someone comes along that really impresses me I might take a chance, but other than that I rarely approach anyone. I might check people out a few times, that make comments in the forums or something, but - I just like to hang out in the courtyard.
Hmmm... looks like this is a short story!!
