Post some Old Testament Scripture that indicates and/or is about Jesus. State something about the Scripture or don't say anything.

Psalm 22:1-31 (KJV)

1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.

I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.

They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me. Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog. Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee. Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel. For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him. The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever. All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations. All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.

A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

I think there are supposed to be over 300 references to Jesus in the Old Testament.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is the one woman in the entire Bible who makes the claim, “All generations to come shall call me blessed” (Luke 1:48). And why is that? Well, we Catholics believe it is because she was preserved from all time from sin by a special privilege of God. God got to create His own mother on earth.

Since original sin (The sin of Adam) is passed down through the womb from one generation to the next, God made Mary free from original sin so that Jesus would also be free from it. This Catholic dogma is called the Immaculate Conception of Mary. This doctrine does not mean that Mary doesn’t need a Savior; in fact, in her Magnificat speech, she says that “her soul rejoices in God my savior” (Luke 1:47). All this means is that she was prevented from falling into the snake pit of sin by the grace of God, rather than being saved from it after sinning, like the rest of us. Catholics believe that this was prefigured in Genesis 3:15, where God told Adam and Eve that He “Will put enmity” between the devil and “THE WOMAN”. Since Eve was in compliance with the devil, and not at enmity, THE WOMAN could not refer to her, but rather a future “WOMAN” who would have enmity (lifelong hatred) with Satan. The entire Genesis 3:15 verse reads as follows from the RSV:
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel."

THE Woman:

Since women don’t have “seeds”, but eggs, this is very peculiar wording. Most biblical scholars believe that “the seed” is Jesus Christ”, and that He bruised satan’s head at the place of the skull, called Golgotha, at the crucifixion. If that is so, then Catholics believe that “THE WOMAN” could only refer to the Blessed Virgin Mary, who gave birth to Jesus, her “seed”. This is why Jesus always referred to Mary as “Woman”, rather than Mom or Mother. Mary can be viewed as a parallel to the Tabernacle of the Lord, as constructed by Moses in Exodus 40 and Luke Chapter 1. In Exodus 40:34-35, when the Tabernacle was completed, we learn the following:

"Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting, because the cloud overshadowed it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle."

In Luke 1:35, the Bible says:

"And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you,and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God."

In both cases, the word used to "overshadow" is "episkiasei".

We Catholics also view Mary as the New Testament Ark of the Covenant. The Old Testament Ark of the Covenant contained three items – The Word of God in the form of stone tablets (the 10 Commandments), manna (bread) from Heaven, and the rod of Aaron that resprouted and came back to life (Hebrews 9:4). Just so, the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary contained Jesus Christ – The living Word of God (John 1:1), the bread of life (John 6:48), and the ruler with a rod of iron who also came back to life (Rev.12:5). At the Annunciation of Mary, Gabriel told her that the power of the most high would “overshadow” her (Luke 1:35). The term “overshadow” is significant, because it was also used to refer to the cherubim “overshadowing” the mercy seat of the Ark of the Covenant (Hebrews 9:5). The Ark was made with pure gold (Exodus 4ff), and was very holy, which parallels the Catholic teaching that Mary is also pure and holy. The Ark of the Covenant was so holy, that no ordinary person could even touch it. Uzzah reached out to steady it, and was instantly struck dead (2 Samuel 6:7). There are many parallels between the mention of the Ark in 2 Samuel 6 and Mary in Luke 1:

•David heads to the hills of Judah in 2 Samuel 6:2-3; Mary heads to the hills of Judah in Luke 1:39.

•David dances for joy in front of the Ark (2 Samuel 6:14); the unborn fetus John the Baptist leaps for joy in Elizabeth’s womb at the sound of Mary’s voice (1 Luke 44).

•David says “How can the Ark come to me”? (2 Samuel 6:9); Elizabeth says, “How is this that the Mother of my Lord has come to me”? (1 Luke 43).

•David and the Ark stayed for 3 months (2 Samuel 6:11); Mary stayed for 3 months (1 Luke 56).

So if Jesus is “The Word Made Flesh”, then Mary is “The Ark Made Flesh”. All of these parallels between the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament and the Blessed Virgin Mary in the New Testament is a branch of scripture study known as “typology”. In other words, events and people in the New Testament are prefigured by events and people in the Old Testament.

One such typology revolves around Revelation 12 and Genesis 37:9. In Genesis, Joseph says,

"Behold, I have dreamed another dream; and behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me."

In Revelation 12:1, the scripture reads,

“And a great portent appeared in heaven, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.”

The obvious parallel is that the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars in Joseph’s dream represent his 11 brothers and all of Israel, while THE WOMAN in Revelation is adorned with these symbols of Israel. So who is the “WOMAN”? The first clue is the term “a great portent”. In Isaiah 7:14 in the Old Testament, it says,

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son and his name shall be called Emmanuel.”

CHAPTER 49 (712 B.C.)
MESSIAH’S CALL AND COMMISSION
LISTEN, O isles, unto Me; and hearken, you people, from far; The LORD has called Me from the womb; from the bowels of My mother has He made mention of My name. (The Speaker in Verses 1 through 6 is the Messiah; He invites the inhabitants of the “Isles” and the people, that is, the whole Gentile world, to listen to Him.

The phrase, “The LORD has called Me from the womb,” speaks of the Incarnation. In order to save the human family, God would have to become Man. He would be called “Immanuel,” which means “God with us” [Isa. 7:14].)

2 And He has made My mouth like a sharp sword; in the shadow of His hand has He hid Me, and made Me a polished shaft; in His quiver has He hid Me (no one knew the Word like Christ; in fact, He was, and is, the “the Living Word” [Jn. 1:1].
The imagery recurs in the Book of Revelation, when John said, “And out of His mouth went a sharp twoedged sword” [Rev. 1:16].
The phrase, “In the shadow of His hand has He hid Me,” means that He was reserved until the time that He would be revealed to the world, and even then would be guided and protected by the Hand of God);

3 And said unto me, You are My servant, O Israel, in Whom I will be glorified. (The word “Servant” is used concerning the Messiah. He Alone portrayed the true “Servant spirit.” The Prophecy is that now Christ, addressed as “Israel,” would stand as a new federal head to the Nation, which would be summed up in Him. Moreover, Christ would be, in a truer sense than any other, the “Israel” or “Prince with God.” In fact, Jesus is the True Man, the True Israel, and the True Church.)

4 Then I said, I have laboured in vain, I have spent My strength for nought, and in vain: yet surely My judgment is with the LORD, and My work with My God. (From the Exodus to Pentecost, He labored and spent Himself for Israel, but in vain; yet His “judgment,” i.e., vindication, was with Jehovah, and His “work,” i.e., His reward, with His God.)

5 And now, saith the LORD Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob again to Him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and My God shall be My strength. (This Verse predicts that Christ will gather Israel to God; that the ability enabling Him to do so will be God’s; and that He Himself shall always be glorious in the Eyes of Jehovah.

The words, “Though Israel be not gathered,” in the Hebrew, actually mean “though Israel be not yet gathered,” and point to temporary disappointments owing to Israel’s unbelief, but that the Messiah will ultimately not only bring back all the Tribes of Jacob to Jehovah, but, in addition and in union with them, will bring back to God the whole of rebellious humanity, at least those who will believe Him.)

6 And He said, It is a light thing that You should be my Servant to raise up the Tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give You for a light to the Gentiles, that You may be My salvation unto the end of the Earth. (The phrase, “It is a light thing,” refers to the fact that God considers the “raising up of the Tribes of Jacob” and the “Restoration of the preserved of Israel” as a small thing in comparison to what else the Messiah will do.
As well, He will also be a “light to the Gentiles,” i.e., “the whole world”!)

MESSIAH’S HUMILIATION AND EXALTATION
7 Thus saith the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel, and His Holy One, to Him Whom man despises, to Him Whom the nation abhors, to a servant of rulers, Kings shall see and arise, princes also shall worship, because of the LORD Who is faithful, and the Holy One of Israel, and He shall choose You. (This Passage gives our Lord’s humiliation and exaltation. The Speaker in Verses 7 through 12 is Jehovah, and the One spoken to [His Holy One] is “Immanuel”—despised by man and abhorred by Israel. Such was He in His First Advent. But, in His Second Advent, kings, when they see Him, shall stand in awe because of Him, and princes shall fall and worship Him.
This is the first place in the Prophecies of Isaiah where this note of the Messiah being “despised” is brought forward. It is found earlier in the Psalms [Ps. 22:6].)

HIS MINISTRY
8 Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard You, and in a day of salvation have I helped You: and I will preserve You, and give You for a Covenant of the people, to establish the Earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages (the Father helped the Son throughout His Earthly Ministry; however, the “acceptable time” and “day of Salvation” refer to Calvary and the Resurrection, where at Calvary every foe was defeated [Col. 2:14–15].

The phrase, “To establish the Earth,” is powerful indeed! Through what Jesus did at the Cross, the “Earth” will be brought back to its original place as before the Fall. This will cause the “desolate heritage” to once again become fruitful!);
9 That you may say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them who are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places. (Due to what Christ did at the Cross, the prisoners can be released from the prison house of darkness. Coming out to the Light, “they shall feed in the ways” and have great “pastures.”)

10 They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for He Who has mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall He guide them. (Verses 9 through 13 picture the Great Shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ, leading His sheep to Zion. In particular, Verses 9 and 10 speak of Israel; in general, they speak of all who accept Christ.)

11 And I will make all My mountains a way, and My highways shall be exalted. (Satan endeavors to make the Christian think that even though he might make it, still, it’s going to be so difficult that the journey will not be worth the effort! Conversely, the Holy Spirit tells us that Christ, despite the “mountains of difficulties,” will make it a happy, joyous, and glorious “way,” and an “exalted highway.”)

12 Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim. (The four points of the compass appear in this Verse, with the word “far” representing the south, and the word “Sinim” representing, as many Scholars believe, China and, therefore, the east.
In any case, this reference is not to the dispersed Jews, but to the remote Gentiles, who will pass from all quarters of the Earth into the Kingdom of the Redeemer.)
