Hi folks. I guess I'm the "new" guy.
I was born in a town of 200. Raised in a town of 20,000 (now over 100,000), moved to Phoenix in 1967 when it was about 100,000 people. I don't know what the population of the Phoenix area is now, but it's over 70 miles across. We used to hunt in the area that is now downtown. Talk about your bad decisions, my father turned down an offer to buy acreage in what is now downtown Phoenix for a hundred dollars an acre. It's worth over a million an acre now.
Bottom line is I now live two miles from where I was born in no town at all. I like it here best. But I do enjoy visiting the kids and grandchildren in Phoenix. (not in the summer). It's nice to be able to walk 20 feet from your back yard and go fishing, or watch the deer, turkeys and other wild life from your dining room table. Don't have that in the city.
welcome to ya Dale! I'm heading for Phoenix this week. Can't wait.
Will be my first trip that way! I have two daughters and two granddaughters
living in Gilbert! I know it's a tad warm out that way but sitting by the
pool sounds so great! And watching the grandbabies makes it all the
heat well worth it! Kick back and enjoy! Welcome again!!

Thanks for the welcome, chilly and pink.
chilly, you will love Gilbert. It's very different there than here. Streets are wide and the whole place is very clean, compared to here. Everything is sculptured and looks like it belongs where it is. They talk about dry heat, well, I'm here to tell you that I don't care how "dry" the heat is, when it gets over 110 in the shade, it's HOT. The swimming pools help if you can keep the water below boiling. Personally, I go in the wintertime. I'm planning a trip this fall. I have a new grandson I want to get to know and three others to spoil rotten. Have to get even with the kids somehow. Bring me back some HOT Mexican food.

I have allways been a big city guy. Born and raised south side Chicago and just love the town BUT, as I get older, settling in a smaller town and away from the craziness sounds better and better. I don't know if it is where I live or what I do, but starting to want the smaller town atmosphere. Besides, the beer is cheaper.
