OK. I'm sorry to be so thoughtless. I was basically throwing that question out there for the guilty ones to take a hint. I honesty didn't intend to offend anyone.
We all understand your frustration, it has happened to me and countless others and all you think is... why do women do that? It is a heat of the moment thing. But it is not all women... just this particular one or that particular one. It is the same as when some women ask - why are men shallow? why do men cheat? why do men this and why do men that.
Generalizations do not serve a purpose. The thing of it is, you did ask a valid question. It happened to me. I was to meet this woman for coffee and when I got there I completely missed her... I literally walked by her not once, not twice but three times until she called me by my name. She looked absolutely nothing like her profile photos. Why did she do it? Not sure... I do not think she was trying to be deceitful but it sure did not help as far as making a good first impression.

From what I hear MANY women (and men) put glamour shots from yesteryear on their profile.
I agree, if you're actually going to meet someone, they are going to see what you look like-DUH. My pix are less than a month old. I did pick out better ones-not the ones with eyes half shut looking drunk, you know. But I've been told with surprise more than once, "You look like your pictures." Sad that that should be a surprise.

Some women do this for the same reason some men over forty post pictures without shirts and hat on backwards or sleeves cut off to display a younger bad boy image....JMO.

Agree with timwell, some of the pics of women on here are for real, others put "glamour" shots on, I would say that like "Shadow People", put the REAL you out there. Same for you guys too, put a recent photo on here.

Thanks for sharing that experience gabi. I had an experience similar to that. The woman had every pic in her profile from yesteryear. When I met her she looked 5-10 years older and 30-50 lbs heavier. (And that was just in her face.) I just started corresponding with a woman via email and phone. She only has a primary pic in her profile. Her listed age is 45 and she looks several years younger. So I flat out asked her if it was a recent pic. She said it's within several months. If she's telling me the truth, I'm going to enjoy that date very much. And she made me feel better about asking the question by returning the question.
And since one of my pics is only a few days old, and I still look like the one taken a year ago, I had no problem with answering it. Honesty is one of the first things we look for in a possible partner. Starting off with deception via your pics is not a good way to begin a friendship/relationship. It will only end with

Thanks for bring that out Blueyes. Since I have never met a man from online, I would have never known that.  With you bringing that out maybe the guys that do it will know how stupid in makes them look also. Because of the horrifying experience I touched on in my last posting, I ask how recent their pics are. If I find out I have been lied to upon meeting the person, I have the right to turn around and walk away. Not because I don't like their appearance. But because they are a liar. i think we are all pretty vain and want to put our best pics out there; however, you must realize all those wrinkles may not show up in the pics, so you kind of get what you see if we are being honest...my main pic is from 8/16/08, but you don't get the full view...guess i need to think about that one; i could have a really big butt for all anyone knows. hmmmm

Most of us don't look like our pictures (all the time) We have good angles and some not so good. Even Brittany Spears has bad hair days. My point, we may want to relax and enjoy just being here. we just want to be loved.

I love to take pictures!! And I can take some really good ones. What's wrong with wanting to show them off a bit. It's fun. 
Plus, most people say that I don't look like my pictures. I photograph well. Now don't get me wrong, i'm not an ugly person, but a picture is just a picture. It's nice to have a realistic one, but remember beauty is only skin deep.
And what's the deal with (some) guys and the really BAD pictures. I always think to myself, "if that's the best picture he's willing to post, he must be really strange."
