Initial exit polls showed Netanyahu's Likud Party deadlocked with the center-left Zionist Union.
But the results indicated that Netanyahu will have an easier time cobbling together a majority coalition with hard-line and religious allies.

Actually, it is a tie. That means that there will be days to weeks, of negotiating, as each major party-Likud, and Labor-try to woo enough smaller parties to their side to get a real win. If that fails, and it remains enough of a tie, there will be a shared government, with Bibi being PM part of the time, and Herzog being PM the other part of the time. It is not over yet.

They are still tied, and will need to woo smaller parties to their side. One-the Kulanu Party-is run by Moshe Kahlon....former Likud member, and former pal of Bibi, who can not stand him now. Kahlon has criticized Bibi & Likud on economics, and social issues, and peace efforts. Kahlon wants peace, is focused on economics & social matters....as Herzog is, so Kahlon seems a natural ally to Herzog, and not very apt to side with Bibi. The Arab parties are also more apt to side with Herzog. This will be interesting before it is over.

Bibi's Likud Party got 27 seats. Herzog's Labor Party got 27 seats. Each needs to reach 61 seats to be in real control. So, each is missing 34 seats. which will have to be gotten from other parties. Kahlon's party is expected to have between 10 and 20, seats to offer, and Kahlon agrees with Herzog but not with Bibi. There are 25 parties in Israel, so that leaves 22 more parties to contribute towards one side, or the other, getting that 61 seat majority. Five Arab parties pretty much vote together, and are more in agreement with Herzog than with Bibi. That leaves 17 parties which will be up for grabs by either wannabe. It can take up to 6 weeks to settle the matter. Bibi is going to have to really pimp himself out, sell a lot of favors, and kiss a lot of ass, if he is to have any hope of winning. He may pull it off, but it won't be easy...of ego preserving.
