llfuzzball Denver, CO age: 43	Sabbath-Perspectives Statement: CP0715 DOES SUNDAY OBSERVANCE VIOLATE THE SABBATH? Some religious groups fervently believe that worshiping God on Sunday and not Saturday (the Sabbath) is a direct violation of God’s commands. After all, it’s the 4th commandment isn’t it? Rest assured there is some basis for the position that Christians are not obliged to keep the Sabbath or worship God on Saturday as opposed to Sunday. For example, in Colossians 2:16 Paul says that we are not to allow anyone to judge us in this matter of keeping the Sabbath. On the other hand, the Sabbath is not merely a Jewish regulation at all. The Sabbath is inextricably woven together with creation: For God Himself rested on the seventh day (Gen. 2:1-3). Not only that, but the Sabbath just happens to be one of the Ten Commandments, which most Christians regard as a summary of God’s moral code. The truth is, the observance of Sunday rather than Saturday does not violate God’s Commandments at all! The Sabbath command in the Old Testament never specified a “Saturday” observance; rather, it was simply a command that we should observe a cycle of six days of work and then rest for one day. So obviously, the intent of the Sabbath command is kept when we rest on Saturday or on Sunday, it really doesn’t matter. Not only that, but there is also some evidence that Sunday worship was practiced in the New Testament Church. As an example, in Acts we read about an evening meeting of the church on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). And Paul instructed the Corinthians to take up a collection on the first day of the week (1 Cor. 16:2). When John says in Revelation that he was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day” (Rev. 1:10), he appears to be referring to a day of the week set aside for the Lord, and not the traditional, Jewish Sabbath day. In fact, in none of these passages is Sunday worship commanded. Christians are no more required to make Sunday their day of rest than they are to make Saturday their day of rest. However, of course, they are perfectly free to do so. In fact, to criticize Sunday observance and then to separate from the rest of the church over something like this, is both legalistic and divisive. The settled, crystallized, and established religions of authority afford a ready refuge to which the distracted and distraught soul of man may flee when harassed by fear and tormented by uncertainty. Such a religion requires of its devotees, as the price to be paid for its satisfactions and assurances, only a passive and purely intellectual assent. TUB Scripture tells us, "They met on the first day of the week to break bread." The early Christian church realizing that God's redemptive work was far greater then His creative work began meeting on the Lords day, which was on the first day of the week. It has been so throughout Christianity in all sects until Ellen White founded the Seventh Day Adventists and proclaimed that the seventh day was the one that should be kept holy. She then proclaimed the Mosaic law on clean and unclean foods should be also followed. These are found in Leviticus 11. Jesus said I did not come to destroy the law but to fulfill the law. Along with Peters vision in acts shows that all foods were indeed cleansed. The only other church that I know of that keeps the seventh day is the Seventh Day Baptists. The Goddess eststar when a bunch of forrest worshipers., would take wood sticks and roll eggs into the forrest, and then have sexual orgies. They would hope all from one partner to another partner.(quick like a bunny) Therefore, that is how you get the bunny and the egg. The word easter is not bibical. It appears in the bible once Act 12:4. It is a mistranslation the word is passover. Look it up in a Strong's. Churches brought it into the house of God so that they could increase the attendence of the church and also the beggers bag. Other references to the Goddess Eststar, She's is also called "the queen of cakes on heaven by Jemeriah.

As long as we have set aside a day to observe as the sabbath, then God approves. Legalism will drive more people away from God....then even Satan himself could. As a teacher you don't ram scriptures and convict them or scare them into submission. As a teacher of the Word you must bring them up to your level. The Word will convict them on its own. Jesus saves, not us.

Some people believe the resurrection and the rapture are one and the same. All true Christians would believe in the resurrection so they would also believe in the rapture if the resurrection and the rapture are in fact one and the same.

The church, instead of just merely cursing the darkness decided to be a light shining in the midst of this darkness. It is good and right to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
