A very interesting thought oleHickory, however it does say in several places in the Bible that the Day of the Lord, which speaks of Christ's return, is at an appointed time, which means it is set for a specific time that only God knows for sure.

I don't think our prayers can either speed up His return nor delay it, but for those who would believe that His return is symbolic and that the descriptions in Revelations is about the times in 70 AD, I will pray that they can see past this deception.

I don't believe it is possible for the elect to be deceived--praise the Lord!!

Matthew 24:22
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

Let's keep it real simple.........Pitch yourself! If your still in the flesh....then he is not the true christ.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52
51 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

I agree . I think after Nov elections, this feeling will be stronger than ever. I feel a different stiring in my spirit than ever before. My spirit seems to be mourning more for the lost than ever before. But. also a spirit of excitement knowing that Jesus is about to come. I feel a weeping spirit for the people who are spiritually asleep and caught up in the world. The world just don't hold anything for me anymore.

It's not God's will that any should persih, but all have everlasting life. He is no respect of person. he loves us all. But, to those who do the will of the Father, to them will reap everlasting life. I know my redeemer lives. If in this life only,I had hope, I would be among men most miserable.

Not Rapture.... what trump does it say "the last Trump" (that means the one furthest out. The return of Our Lord Jesus Christ.)

And the time is shortened for the Elect's sake.

By Capt. Pappy - I see so many folks who believe they “know” Christ also adopting the moralistic ideas of a twisted, man made idealism, accepting the relinquish of our rights as humans for the assurance of “security” and global, social harmony, and refusing to open their eyes to the clear warnings we were given in the Bible to help us distinguish between the true and the false.

My point is that in order to fool Christians, Satan must and will convincingly mimic Christianity!

I believe 80 or 90 pecent of Americans claim to be "Christian." At the same time, our society is becoming more and more tolerant of things we, as true Christians, find immoral, therefore, we are called "intolerant" and even evil. Jesus said in the last days "good will be called evil, and evil will be called good." Things are spiraling so quickly, the end times must be at hand.

(and thanks for the Quincy!)

First, I'd like to say I appreciate everyone's input to this thread. It's comforting to learn that I am not the only “crazy” out here that believes we are living in the final days before the return of Christ and God's Kingdom on Earth.

Rapture:

1 Thessalonians, chapter 4;16,17:
16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1Corinthians does indeed tell of the event that most call the “rapture”
1 Corinthians, 15, 51-54:
51: Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52: In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
53: For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
54: So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory

Please notice that verse 52 says “... at the last trump,” is when this event will happen! There are 7 trumpets with their effects described in Revelations. The "last trump" is the seventh trumpet. Also, as in Thessalonians, “the trump of God” most usually is a reference to the trumpet that signals the return of Christ or the 7 th trumpet.

I also would like to point out one other thing about 1 Corinthians 15:52. Nowhere in verse 52, the preceding verse or the verses after, does it say we will disappear off the face of the earth; it simply says the dead shall rise and we (both living and resurrected) will be changed. The image painted by “Left Behind” of a quiet and mysterious disappearance of the world's Christian population is FICTION!

OK, now, go to Revelations 11, verse 15. This begins the sounding of the seventh trumpet.

Previous to this chapter and verse explains what happens at the sounding of the sixth trumpet. A war; a vision John is not allowed to write; measurement of the temple and an indication that the outer court of the temple will be shared with the Gentiles for 3 1/2 years, (side note: read August developments concerning the currently negotiating peace treaty with Israel, that the location of the temple they want to build includes the land of the Dome of the Rock, and because of this the Jewish people will have to share the outer courts of their new temple with Islamic and the other religions in Jerusalem!!!) and a description of the "little book" John is made to eat and told that he must prophecy.

Read from chapter 11; verse 15, all the way to the end of chapter 14; verse 20

Revelations 14; 14-16
14: And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.
15: And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.
16: And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.

Verse 16 is exactly the same event as 1 Corinthians 51; it is the harvest of believers; the story of the wheat and the tares. This is NOT the Antichrist because in verses 17-20 explains the harvest of nonbelievers and that they receive the wrath of God.

Now go back and read, now that you know that the “rapture” happens at the end of chapter 14, and see all that will happen before this event occurs! Yes, not all of Revelations follows a linear time line, exactly, but in this case from chapter 11;15 to chapter 14;20 is all a description of events signaled by the 7th or last trump. The actual harvest of believers is not described until after the Antichrist, the Beast and the False Prophet are described. The “harvest” happens just before Jesus is ready to return and put an end to the war against Israel – Armageddon.

I'm not disputing that the “raptured” Christians are transfigured and return to Earth with Christ to stop Armageddon, begin the 1000 year rule of Christ, change the Earth and lock Satan away for 1000 years.

...but I am saying that we as Christians WILL see the Antichrist and have to make a decision whether we will allow ourselves to follow his laws or face possible dire consequence for refusing to believe that he is Christ!

... and you can believe that everything the "Not-Christ" will do and say will SEEM to go along with the Bible's description of Christ's rule on Earth.

I firmly believe that if you expect to be gone when the Antichrist rules from the global government, you will not recognize him for who he is and inocently accept his terms!!!!!

(one too many edits)

My final word:

The wrath of Satan comes before Armageddon. The wrath of God comes after Armageddon. Christians will escape the wrath of God but we will NOT escape the wrath of Satan.
