It's kinda like a long distance relationship. Long amounts of time and distance between the two people. But you could join yourself and hope to be deployed together. Then there's the trust issue. Not easy but they can be done successfully.

I had a navy boy years ago. It was fun, but he was always partying with his friends. He was a friend first.... which should have made it ok. He shipped off to the Persian gulf. Begged me to wait for him. He even cried. I knew we weren't meant to be, but I knew he needed to have an anchor, so I promised to wait for him. He was gone for 7 months. I wrote to him almost every day and sent him his requests etc. I don't think I have ever been hit on more than those 7 months, (why is that?)but I kept my promise. When he returned, I picked him up at the ship, took him home and never saw him again. He had gotten engaged while he was gone....LOL
Navy guys are the best, just not that one...can't give him a good reference. good luck with your seaman.LOL

Well I can giv a little insight. I am a retired member of the U.S.Navy.
I had a LDR with a lady in the 80's and even moved her up to the area I was stationed. Things were going good , or so I thought. I did not cheat as so many of my shipmates did. I slept on the ship every night in port. Never once did I think of cheating. I wrote 3 times a week ,phoned when in port, and sent gifts and flowers from the exchange catalog.
I get back and find out she had been cheating on me for the last 3 months of a 9 month cruise. I still forgave her and moved her to be with me. Well she up and left me within 3 weeks. Man was I dumb.
I married in the late 80's and was married through 2 cruises. Again no cheating on my part. I stayed married till after I retired. She told me the relationship was dead. After the divorce I found out from my oldest child that she had been cheating on me durning my last cruise and while I worked nights as a civilian. All her lovers were women.
So out out 2 relationships in the Navy both were bad. I have known some that worked but I have known a lot more to fail.

I hear a lot of Navy wives cheat. My sister was one of them. I know for sure I can be faithful and be strong on my own while he is away. I could never do that to someone who is out risking his life everyday. I don't see how any woman could. I was more worried about him being under pressure from the guys on the ship. Traveling to exotic places meeting exotic women, bringing back exotic diseases.
Is it possible he can be as faithful as I can? Under that pressure?

While I was in the Army I met a girl at a club. We hung out, went to the lake together. I was about to take her to a hotel and do her when she told me . . . she was married to a seaman who was on a ship in the Pacific.
Lickily, even back then I had some decent standards.
I left her standing at the dock.
