I agree Mish... but you have to be careful. There are many restrictions to what can be sent over to Iraq. For instance, anything made with peanut butter (PB cookies) is not allowed. Even Choc Chip cookies have to be made with the butter flavored Crisco instead of butter or margarine....
Peaches, I can help with any of that if you want.
If anyone is interested in Adopting a soldier, I have a website where you sign up to adopt a deployed soldier and they match you up accordingly. Just let me know if you are interested. They have a great website as well... hints for care packages, restrictions, etc.

Keep in mind where you are sending it and the fact that it has to go thousands of miles. Things could melt if made with chocolate and such. I dont know that restrictions on food contents apply to military care packages.

Yes Chey... there are restrictions on food products being sent to military members... my 2nd husband was in Iraq for 347 days. There are restrictions due to where it is going (pork and such is not allowed) due to the culture there. Also there are restrictions due to the temp and environment (PB, butter, and margarine can forment in the heat very quickly). I say these things by experience with a military spouse, not your basic mail packages.

www.adoptaplatoon.org I have been with them for a little more than 2 years. It's a wonderful program started by a cpl of military moms who heard from their own sons of troops overseas not getting ANY mail.

I've spent many years of my life around the military. I have a great appreciation and respect for all our soldiers. I see people protesting and disrespecting our soldiers so I kindly remind those people that if our soldiers are over there so we don't have to be and they should appreciate the effort not protest it. Maybe I don't fully agree with the total reason for this war either - but the military personnel are doing the job they signed up to do. My prayers are always with them. They deserve our respect and support for the job they are doing............ GOD BLESS AMERICA.
