person. Try not to be cynical, but be skeptical until after a few months of REALLY getting to know the other person. As others have said...hold on to your heart. It takes a lot of quality time together to even begin to build a lasting relationship. JMO

It is women who do those kinds of things that make it hard on the rest of us honest women. Those who are hurt then put up walls and make it almost impossible to gain their trust. I know that many women have this same issue with men. It just sucks and is a vicious cycle as a wise friend once said to me!

Dont give up artist. I know it hurts now but if you put up walls with the next one you might miss the one you really were meant to be with. Just proceed with caution. Sounds like you normally do though and that is why you were caught off guard this time but the truth is... if she is a b*tch, it will come out sooner or later no matter what anyway.

Hi Cajun girl....and great advice...I totally agree with your response to artist...you can't judge everyone from one person's actions. We're all different. Wouldn't the world be a boring place if we were all the same? Just be cautious...expose only small pieces of your life until your sure. Life lessons can sometimes be brutal, but your less likely to make the same mistake again. Best of luck to you artist...

Just be wary that they are out there and both sexes do it. They have no conscience of what they do to the other person but hey, what goes around comes around ... eventually.

I wish people would just be honest about their motives from the beginning then all this hurt and anguish can be avoided. If you are not serious about someone just tell them that you are still talking to others or not ready to be seriously involved at this point in time. HONESTY PEOPLE!!!!!! Its not hard!!!!!!!

I actually met a couple guys from this site. With each of them, we've talked a couple times on the phone before meeting in person. Some just ended up being the one meeting, some turned out to be friends and theres one Ive been dating for about 2 months now. I totally agree that you have to keep your guard up on your heart until youve met in person... a few times. Until you meet that person, see them around other people, see what theyre like on a bad day etc... you cant know who that person really is. Most people are on their best behavior when you first meet them and almost anyone can "fake" being a nice person long enough to make a phone call, their true character wont come out until you see them in every day life. Then see what youve got.
