My understanding is that there have been two sets of creatures that have actually met God, "face to face" so to speak. That being first the angels and second Adam/Eve.
Doesn't the bible say that Satan and fully 1/3 of the angels decided God wasn't so all powerful, all knowing, etc. and leave?
The story of Adam/Eve, we all know - they decided to not follow God's direction as well.
So - it seems to me that the only creatures to have really gotten a first hand look at God and actually "hung around" with him, didn't seem to be all that impressed.
Looks like it's 0 for 2 to me.

To give modern day analogies...
Children quite often disobey their parents. Teenagers think their parents are downright stupid sometimes. One could conclude, therefore, all parents should be disobeyed because they are stupid. Some things can sound logical, but they obviously are not.
Employees of any size company often disagree with their supervisor, boss, owner, etc. Many will talk of how they know how to run it better. Odds are, most cannot. Many try, and fail. Some succeed - surely. Satan's got himself a busy business going on - heck, you get to do anything you want there. yee-haw.

Guess I was hoping for some specific, direct answers to the question. Kids don't listen to their parents- but what would you think of a parent who told their kid not to walk out in front of traffic, but then watched them do it and sit back and say - "Well, they have free will, they get killed, it's their issue" - try keeping the analogy on track if you want to have input. Sometimes employees disagree with their bosses - not exactly the same as disagreeing with an all-powerful, all knowing, all-present being now is it? Doesn't apply, doesn't address the issue at all.

I can't speak for the angels nor for satan. But as a spiritual being having
a human experience....my belief on my relationship or connection to God is
so very different from most people. That being said..I would drive myself nuts
and I have..trying to analyze the heirarchy of heaven and hell. Basically
our life is about choices and the consequences that result. Some are positive and
some are negative...my basis premise is to operate from a foundation of love.
When Jesus spoke that the "Way to the Father is but through him" he was not saying
that we should follow him..he was telling us that Our Father our God resides within
us. We are one with the father to find the way to him is to turn ourselves inward
to his spirit. We are one but not the same. The stories within the bible may have
a poor batting average...but man operating on a spirit of love...can hit the home run
and win the game.

he gave adam and eve a mind of there own to think and make decisions on there own.we make our paths as to where we follow the bible or we don't.it's like the old sayin"you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink".either you believe or you don't thats why god gave us a mind to think for ourself.

I would like to think that a god is smarter than a man but the bible does make him look kind of wishy washy and subject to making bad decisions. As well as throwing some pretty bad temper fits. Also with an inferior complex since he needs humans to tell him how wonderful he is all the time. Or maybe a lot happens when he is taking a nap.

Actually that used to bug me too, about why does God need us to always be telling him how great he is, etc. Again, I would assign human emotion to Him like "doesn't that make Him needy or arrogant"... not that I meant it as a bash as much as I realllly didn't understand. A friend of mine tried to explain it to me but I really never got it.
Then one day a couple years ago, I was having quite a time with my son. Divorce issues and such, and he had gone into the "dad is superdad/mom's invisible" phase. I soooooo wanted my little boy back, I absolutely ACHED for that son who loved and adored me like he used to, when we'd talk and laugh and I knew him inside and out whether he spoke or not, when I could read even the slightest thought or emotion change in his face..... and then it just hit me. We're God's children, it's the same thing. I think with the Bible it's somewhat a matter of the language of that time, plus you have to give credence to the fact that He IS God and all... but all God really wants, is what I want from my own child. To be loved, talked to, included in our lives. It's awesome when my son says "mom, you look beautiful in a ponytail" or "hey mom. thanks for doing that for me" and "Mum. I love you clear to outerspace and back". God wants the same thing, a RELATIONSHIP with us...
Not sure if this works for anybody but me, but this is how I understand that.

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older Then it dawned on me . . . they were cramming for their finals.

First I'd like to thank you for your responses.
Secondly, it occured to me, while reviewing them, that perhaps the bible / God doesn't say he is perfect. Maybe it's mankind / organized religion that promotes this belief. If God made us in his image, perhaps he suffers from all the same emotional turmoil we do, i.e., jealousy, anger, need for acceptance, etc. Guess I'll have to review things from that aspect - see, I'd like to believe in a higher power, but need to have an understanding that works for me.
Nonickname - special thanks. God within us, has a ring of truth to it for me. Not saying it's logical, but it's got a "good" feel to it.
