Why is it that so many women online, when posting their pictures choose photographs that are taken in a bar or some kind of drinking environment? Is it because it's supposed to represent "Cool" or is it because being toasted takes good pictures? what is it?

Some people don't mind a drink or two, since it's not against their religion or anything...& some people like Sinbad KungFu bathrobes. We probably shouldn't judge either.

Takes all kinds to make the world go around.

Maybe the location is irrelevant and it is because the person looks good in it or it's the most recent photo they have?...Women tend to 'dress up' when going out so it would be a 'good' photo opportunity.

They won't take pictures at work because they either don't want anyone to know they are online dating, or they really don't have a job.
That leaves the bar for finding them in their nice dress, jewelry, makeup, and ridiculous shoes.

What you'll never see is a pic of them staggering from their car to the house with tangled hair, baggy eyes, smeared makeup, broken shoe heel, and pantyhose dangling out of their coat pocket at 6:30 in the morning while they wonder if they will get written up for calling off from work again and search their purse for the last menthol cigarette and try to remember if they took their pill last night after supper.

Most of my photos are taken at some sort of occassion or outing. I personally don't have all that many photos of myself as I'm always the one taking pictures, rarely getting in them. When there is some sort of occassion (Christmas, B-day party, Someone leaving work, Vacation, etc), it's more likely that someone will take my picture.

You may find that this is the case for other women as well?

I attend DateHookup gatherings and post pics of new friends~

some of these gatherings are in a bar~

I also do some work in a bar atmosphere and post pics of friends from there~

as previous poster said...good photo ops, everyone has a camera nowadays!

and although I don't go out to bars for the bar's sake,
it might look like that to some who don't know me...

One thing that will make me pass on a profile is if I see him holding his drink in front of him like it is a golden chalice...

The cliche` a pic worth a thousand words only applies to those willing to excercize the mind. How come so many want a thousand words to explain what they see? Ironic isn't it?

Why didn't you just title the thread "Please enlighten me!"?

It seems to me that men and women will equally post pictures from bar settings. As one of the previous posters stated, "Everyone wants to look their best." Perhaps those photos say a little about them and how they mingle with their friends.

I suppose that's the same reason why you've posted professional photos on your profile. They are very good and you're trying to be at your best; but, do those photos say anything about you and your personality?

The title reflects my yearning for knowledge

Perhaps men and women equally post pictures from bar settings but I am a guy and look at women's profiles hence the specificity.

As fore my professional pictures and personality, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder... what may seem professional and personality less pictures to you may actually be appealing to many.

Oh and by the way, I made it very clear from the beginning, it's just a thought that crossed my mind, I did not start this tread to judge anyone, it's just a general question which has received many a good answer.

Charming...

My comments weren't meant to offend or insult. I didn't say your photos weren't attractive either; in fact, they are very nice.

I tend to get on the defense when a post starts with "Ladies" or "Guys".....we all have opinions and views!
