I work in a grocery store, and I know a woman who sometimes does her grocery shopping where I work. I've been thingking about asking her out, but I'm not sure how she would react. If I see while I'm working at the store and ask her out, I'm half afraid she might think "I'm here to do my shopping, not have employees "hitting" on me". Your comments and suggestions please.

LOL I once ended up dating a guy who worked at a local grocery store. First see if you can catch her eye. (Soooo many men miss this age old sign of female interest, just trying to catch their eye to smile from across the room.) If so, smile, see how she reacts. Big friendly smile, good sign you could approach her and start a conversation. Flash a quick smile and keep on going, probably just trying to be polite. Doesn't even act like she saw it or gives you a wierd look, forget it LOL
Also, if you see her looking confused or trying hard to find something, jump right in and ask if she would like some help. That alone could start a conversation if she is open to it.
Just never ask a woman out when she is shopping with her kids unless you have very good reason to believe it won't creep her, or especially them out.

I think the grocery store is one of those places where many men assume a woman with groceries is shopping for her family.

You should probly ask her when you are off the clock. Most places have policies against that sort of thing. But if you are interested you should at least give it a shot instead of wondering from now on.

Work on building a friendship, go with that for awhile, then based on her response to the friendship, suggest something light, fun and casual.

I am just wondering how you can tell if a person is single just from what they have in their cart. Don't really like to shop much, so when I go I "power shop" and get enough for a few weeks in one trip. Could look like I was feeding an army to some. I think checking for a ring would be another idea.

I agree with ya wildgypsy... I am thinking about what my grocery cart most say about me.. I get groceries maybe 2 times a month, and my prolly gives off the wrong impression. Someone would prolly think that I had kids if nothing else. (jello cups, yougurt, fruit, capt'n crunch berries, soda) I don't cook for myself (hate cooking for one.. I just don't appreicate my hard work LOL). So I don't buy a lot of meat either. For one its expensive and two, not buying a roast at $9 a pop, just to have my dog eat it in the end; the leftovers. Sometimes I feed the neighbors just so I have an excuse to cook.

Being in a grocery store 6 days a week....some stores actually encourage fraternizing with vendors. And there many shoppers who use stores as their total socializing resources....wine as an example....plays well as a flirting tool. Pursue as you are.....lol

You're a naughty girl , Romie..meet me in the produce dept.. I'll be the one fondling the melons.
I work in a wholesale club... But it is not one of the customers I wanna ask out. One of my co workers has caught my eye. But I dont know if , when she looks me in the eye, if I'm supposed to think that is one of the telling hints that she is interested in me as well. Or is she just being friendly. One of these days, I'll get the nerve to engage her in conversation in the break room. til then..I'll just hide in this turtle shell...sigh

I went to the grocery store this morning... and because of this topic, took notice.
Many of the men with out rings had baskets of quick fix stuff. Some of the others had organically filled baskets.. not carts.
Me? LOL I cook once a week... on Sunday and freeze meals for lunch and quick dinners... sometimes I don't cook each week because I still have left overs. It is hard to cook for one... even with that magic food sucker (sealer).
You can tell the single ones with the carried basket technique.. but the thought of actually going to the grocery store more often than I do makes my hair creep! Grocery store is not the same as a veggie market.. that I do more often.. little place on the side of the road.
I won't be meeting any in a grocery store, though it seems to be a possible place to meet... at least ya know if they think like you on nutrition.
