How do you feel about this when it's explained right here from the King James Version Bible?
Math.23:23
Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypecrites!for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weighter matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and faith:these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.
Lev.27:30
And all the tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land, or of the fruit of the tree, is the Lord's:it is holy unto the Lord.
Numbers 18:26
Thus speak unto the Levites, and say unto them,When ye take of the children of Israel the tithes which I have given you from them for your inheritance, then ye shall offer up an heave offering of it for the Lord, even a tenth part of the tithe.
Deu.12:17
Thou mayest eat within thy gates the tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine,or of thy oil, orthe fistlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy freewill offerings, or heave offering of thy hand.

I have been tithing rather faithfully throughout most my Christian life. I feel that having a strong fellowship with the Lord is first and foremost who will teach us all things, even the proper way to tithe. As my scriptural basis, I have used Malachi 3:10-12 and Proverbs 3:9,10 which says:
10Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
11And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
12And all nations shall call you blessed: for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
and
9Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
I find that God is pleased when I pray the word over my tithe and if I prepare my check as soon as I have received the income. He seems to delight in the firstfruits, even of my time. When I bring it to Him, I really sense His sweet presence. It's like a sweet aroma that comes up before Him. I would challenge you to try it. But have an attitude of expectancy.
Blessings to you!

That is one of the reasons many don't get involved with a church. They think they can 'manage' their spirituality on their own and that the church is only there to plunder their resources.
Ha ha ha ha ha
They still want the church to be there for the baptism, wedding and funeral though.

LOL and kudos to all of you who tithe! God is faithful!
I recall one morning I was driving home a gravy shift. I am not a gravy person though, but took this temporary position in good faith. Well, I found that I was not in good enough shape for driving home in rush hour after being up all night at work. Unfortunately, no buses serviced my route and the hours I needed it to. So I was stuck with driving at the time.
I was driving eastbound on Hwy 6 toward Santa Fe Drive to make a left onto Santa Fe. It starts out as highway and becomes 6th Avenue (in Denver). I suddenly found myself approaching stopped or slowed traffic at highway speed. I wasn't very alert in my condition then. I slammed on the breaks and swerved. Yeah, I didn't have ABS. I also screamed "I AM A TITHER!" I was shocked at my own words as they were not premeditated! And I managed to avoid an accident nor did I get a ticket.
That right there was a lesson to me to keep tithing!

God does not need money..
people do..
it never speaks of Jesus bying anything with money..
giving of yourself and your time, and care, and help, and love
is more important than money,,
aaallllll the money in the world..
people think tithing 10% is gonna get them riches..
or their church
Godschild you have a much more important gift you give others,
care, help, love, healing, your spirit is strong in praying and helping others heal.
not to worry about the 10%
if you got that to give,,just make real sure who your giving It to.

Lees,
Do I help keep our dwelling going, yes I do more than my 10% and offerings we had 4 salvations last Sunday. He is faithful to take care of all of my needs.
I help the needy, with the direction of my Provider.I have given entire households full of things , a couple needed who got married and had nothing.I am not rich but I paid for half of bible school so someone could go this year and I have already been told to help someone next year.Besides of the gifts you think I have Lees,I am lead all the time to give my things. They are only things and the real riches we will recieve in Heaven.
Thank you everyone for posting,Enclosed,De-voted and subdude, great words, I love you all......
God Bless,
Jackie

In Romans 12 it does speak of motivational gifts which is different than spiritual gifts. Among the motivational gifts is giving. In fact, you can take a motivational gift profiler which is available online for free to see where your strengths lie:
http://webuildpeople.ag.org/downloads/gifts.pdf
I believe that though not all of us have the gift of giving, we are all commanded to give, and to tithe. I just shared how God took care of me as a result of tithing. I did not plan the words that were screamed out of my mouth when I was approaching a stopped car in the left lane at highway speed upon coming home from a graveyard shift. I believe that if our hearts are right and we are obedient in our giving, and tithing, God is faithful to even to give us what money cannot buy.
So if any of you haven't tithed, or you have just begun tithing and you're not seeing results, hang in there and allow the Holy Spirit to teach you and ask Him to show you what you need to know. Jeremiah 33:3 and James 1:5

If you are a believer, yes you should tithe, and give an offering, i myself am guilty of not tithing as i should, and yes you should make sure your giving into good ground(church, pastor, etc)God see's everything we do, i believe we will be judged on three things, everything we do, everything we say, and everything we think, tithing is important, not just to us but to the body of Christ. 1 Cor:9:9, 1 Tim:5:18,Deut:25:4.I believe God will bless any and all who tithe, not just with money(you reap what you sow) but with health, well being and a host of things we can't even begin to imagine, now if i can just get that into my own spirit.

God does not need money..
people do..
it never speaks of Jesus bying anything with money..
Not to be crude, but "it" never speaks of Jesus using the potty either, but I am pretty sure he did.
"It" is not an all inclusive manual on every single thing that Jesus did in his lifetime for you to mirror.
Also, if money is not important why do you cling to it so tightly not accepting tithing?
It is not about the money, it is not even about 10%, it is about faith. Do you have the faith in God to provide for you that you will need to let go of that 5 dollar bill or 20 dollar bill or whatever?
But that money is for gas? A pack of smokes? Bread? Do you worry that if you let go of the money -in faith- that God will forget about you and your own needs won't be met?
God actually calls on us to tithe so that He may prove Himself to us.
Malachi 3:10
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

i never said not to tithe money,,if you have it to give, give away...
yes i too have tithed to a church,,now it is more personal.i did my research,to who i would tithe to..thats all i was trying to say..
i wish some of the really wealthy tycoons would help those in need more..learn the value of tithing,,then maybe we would not have so many families living on the streets..
but yes i know it is my delusion.lol.
what i was trying to also say is that some(and i do not mean you Godschild)give only because of the church saying they have to in order to be blessed,,what the tithe brings to those with a cheerful heart is an abundance back..
and i have seen you giving In ways that also will bring you blessings,,not to worry about the money part Only..
i hope you did not take offense, because no offense was intended..
giving in many ways, but especially from the heart is blessed.

Lees,
No offence taken at all,I was just trying to point out where I am at,lol. Not a good thing sometimes.
I agree with you about the families living on the streets, it is so sad, I live in a small town outside of Flint, Mich so I really don't see alot of it.This winter I saw some women sleeping in the entery way to the library late one night after taking the youth home from the church .I was horrified. We are trying to get a shelter together here.
Thank you for the kind words they are much appreciated,
In Christ,
Jackie

The problem in most churches today is how tithing is taught. Most Christian churches I've attended teach that it is a commanded of Christians to give a tithe, 10%. If the churches were to teach the principle of tithing it would eliminate the arguments of weather to tithe or not. Tithe is 10%, so what would it be if a Christian gave 15%?
The new testament teaches giving, not tithing. This is not only to give a tithe, 10%, or weekly offering to a Church we may attend. We are to also give our time spreading the gospel, spiritual advice and helping others in what ever capacity God has placed on our hearts to do.
I encourage each of you to study tithing in more detail. Learn the truth and adapt it to your own lives and to what you may say to other Christians about tithing.

There have been times in my life, like now, where I don't attend a building dedicated to having church services. I still have church with family and friends, I believe in home churches. I still give according to my means to those the holy spirit directs me to give. It never ceases to amaze me the look on some ones face when I help them and they hardly knew me or don't know me at all. I never ask or expect for any thing in return.
