I went to a discussion a couple years back where a preacher was playing devil's advocate and trying to convince a group of college students that arranged marriages are actually better than dating. I know my initial reaction was that he's insane. However, with arranged marriages, there are certain advantages. For one, the divorce rate is considerably lowered. You don't have to go through that awkward stage of trying to figure out if the person likes you or not. You don't have to fret about taking your future spouse home to meet the family. Your parents would have checked him/her out ahead of time and know their family, so they would find someone that they think would be good for you. If you're interested in someone, you simply tell your parents, and they check that person out and make arrangements to meet with the person's parents. If either set of parents doesn't agree, there are no hurt feelings.
I don't know that I would ever seriously want to be party to an arranged marriage, but sometimes, with as hard as it is to date, it sounds like a tempting alternative. Any thoughts or opinions?

I read about the same thing about arranged marriages that the divorce rate is lower. Sometimes other people see what I don't. Arrange marriages are sometimes a good thing sure beats dating. Sorry but dating for me is like applying for a job and I present myself as who I am and some want newer products.

All the household of faith are son's and daughters of abraham and sarah who arranged their son's marriage.
Calling that a devil's advocacy won't have played very well when first you sit at table with them, if you get that chance in heaven.
