I can't do it. Knowing myself and how I am, well it's just not right
for me. Morally am I using him or is my self esteem so low that I am
willing to be used...either way I feel it's wrong. It's like going
against what my heart and soul were made for.
Not judging anyone else who is comfortable with that just telling
you what I know to be true about myself. I personally feel worse and
like crap after meaningless sex and that was with a man I had been in
a long relationship with.
Tried doing that the first 3 months of our breakup. The sex was still
bad and it didn't really help me as a person anyway. Still couldn't feel
satisfide...guess the saying is true....

heya goodgato  ya know, i have read and heard that some women (like you) actually like and enjoy this type of arrangement. i could never wrap my brain around it for some reason... to me, when i'm with a guy and we're affectionate cuddly-wise and sexually-wise, i don't know...i just want him all to myself!  i would want to be the only one in his life that shares those special kinds of moments with him and visa versa. i would want a commitment from him and hopefully he would want one from me. exclusivity. it's what i've always wanted my whole life (with the right guy of course!). i have NO desire to share my guy with anyone, so for me, the FWB arrangement would never ever EVER work. but for others, it fits into their lives well and they enjoy it, so - as i always say:

For me I could not do that, I like to get to know someone first, the relationship builds up over a period of time, sex is a fulfilment of time spent together, a mutual bond, the final act of love........ I enjoy the company of the opposite sex, evenings and time spent together........ I could not do sex with no strings etc, does not seem right and quite often theres guilt or a feeling of " being used ". Sorry if I sound old hat about this subject, but I have a lot of respect for all ladies, could never hurt them nor would I want to either.

I think it takes a more mature attitude to make a commitment than it does to just have FWB's...which we always just called f**k buddies, or a piece of ass. Sorry - I see it as a waste of time. Anyone that has mere sexual encounters without anything to back it up is missing out on what the experience is truly about. It will be a sad day when they wake up and realize what a waste of time and reputation their empty endeavor actually was.
I would rather be alone than the play thing of someone who makes it clear, upfront, that they don't give a rat's behind about me or what I think or feel.

I had a relationship that worked perfect for 7 months like that. I met my ex-wife and moved on and she met a man a month later. It was the mid 80's, HIV was new and very scary for sexually active single people, (still is), and we were both exhausted from the dating scene. We worked together and were friends. Every monday it seemed we'd show up at work and share nightmares about dating over the weekend. The subject came up and we sat down one day and talked about it and came up with rules and all. Bottom line is that it worked out great because we would have sex about twice a week and it suddenly took the pressure off dating. In other words we would go out with other people on the weekend and not feel the need to get laid. It all seems other worldly these days now that I'm tapping on the 50 year old door. We were both in our 20's then, it worked fabulously, I couldn't do it today.

Well if you are like me, a single mother, who doesnt want or need a man around. Then FWB is all there is. I dont look at is as being used or me using that person. It simply means that we know we dont want a relationship. I dont want my kids to meet anyone I talk to nor do i want him to meet my kids. I have very specific reasons for this. And when i exlplain it to them they fully understand. Now when my kids are grown and gone then i will look at settling down and give my heart to someone. Until then I have needs and wants for sex!

It is good if you aren't looking for a realationship. Some people become attatched though and want more even if you tell them upfront. Believe me it happened to me. I guess the guy thought it would eventually turn into more but he wasn't really my type. Anyways just be careful because there are some psycos out there that will stalk you because they involved feelings.
