That doesn't even cover the cost of the drinks the last time I took someone out for the first, or the last time. I have no problem paying for that 5 dollar bite but when I take her out she knows what being treated special means.

Have to tell you that I feel under too much pressure when a man suggests an expensive restaurant. Of course, if he is a multi-zillionair I guess that would not matter...it's all relative. Just keep it simple and casual, which brings out the best in everyone.

I have never thought about it.... I let her pick the first place, where she would feel safe. I also if needed, make some suggestions.. I like Red Lobtser and Outback and if she drinks, have one why waiting on the table.. If dinner goes well, I would asked if she would like to go to the comedyforum (club). After, I always go to Binfords to listen to live music and she would be invited to go also. Hopeful we would have a few drinks and dances there... So most of my first dates, I drop $100 pretty easy. But she only cost $50.. Doesn't feel right to put a price on ones enjoyment.
If we meet for lunch , $30 to $50 for both of us..
Later, Blu

I like the idea of meeting for coffee or at most lunch. I look at the first meeting as a "get to know you". Sometime you may have had a good rapport online and the meeting fizzles. Aside from the fact that most people don't have a large amount of cash to spend on a first date I think something expensive puts alot of pressure on both parties. I've heard from men who are tired of "pulling out all the stops" on first dates. I think you can show your interest and sincerity by showing up on time, holding open the door, listening to the other when they speak and not spending the entire meeting droning on about your ex.
If you don't feel there is any future you should STILL email/call your date to thank them for their time and company but politely let them know you don't see a future. This is the DECENT and KIND thing to do.
