I look at who they are looking at. If you pay close attention you can tell who has looked at whom first. Like myself I sometimes just look at profiles to get to know the person male or female, better that post.
You get a pretty good idea who's looking for sex, friend or relationship.
There will be a guy about my age and if he's looking at women half his age or half clothed, all stretched on the bed in skimpy clothes. I stay clear. If I see he's been looking at women in his age range that tells me he's more serious about being a friend or finding someone special and not a one night stand.
I stay clear of those that look like they are collecting pretty women only.
For myself, I turn down turn down's to be added to friends list with two exceptions. And they are people I feel I have got to know.

wouldnt really judge a collection of pictures. maybe they like looking at photos. or makes em feel popular. who knows. its what he writes to me that matters more.
if am asked to be on friends list thats different. not my thing. can write friendly emails instead.

I've had women make comments about my friends list but I'm glad they are there and only wish I could put you all on there. And even if I don't talk with them all the time it is a comforting thing to see them there.
