I feel that love takes time..lust at first sight, admiration at first sight, call it what you will, but I do not believe in love at first sight..perhaps because I never have felt that type of connection instantly with anyone that I have loved..I have felt attraction but love takes time for me..

trick question. there's love, then there's "true" love (being "in love" vs. just loving somebody). who the f**k knows what true love is? it certainly can't be had at first sight. and if it's possible to love and not be "in love", like I know it is.... what's the point of putting any meaning on love at first sight?

I think the only time I have ever seen love at first sight is when your child is born and you see him/her for the first time.
Now, regarding dating and relationships, I do not think true love can come from first sight. There can be a connection, lust, curiosity, and chemistry at first sight but real, genuine love does not pop out at first sight. In hindsight, a couple may say that it was love at first sight after they have been together a while, but again, hindsight is always 20/20.

I not only believein "love at first sight" but have witnessed it -- twice.
One of my college roomies met a female in our subversive films class (400 level English class on really bizarre films). He asked her out the day he met her. They dated for 2 years in college, 4 years once they graduated, then got married and now have a son who is 4. They took so long to get married because neither believes in God or feels a legal contract is required to have a union ... however she eventually wanted the whole ceremony thing.
Post college, a good friend of mine (who is exceptionally GQ-looking, I should add) met a female in a bar -- they went home together that night. They got married 6 months later, are now approaching 10 years of marriage ... and have 3 kids.
Oh yea ... "love at first sight" definately exists. It sort of scares me...

It can happen if the feelings are there, but you do have the people who say they love everyone within the first few days/weeks. That is just wanting someone in their life. I do believe someone can have love at first site. There are couples who within 3 weeks get married and are together, in love, for the rest of their lives. Yes It can happen.

I didn't until I met this girl at a Goo Goo Dolls concert in Scranton about 2 years ago. She worked at the Toyota Pavilion as a security person. Got her name, Alex, but have not seen her since. I bought her a blanket cause she was shivering while walking up and down our aisle and gave it to her at the end of the show... Kinda pointless at that point. I drove down a few months later to catch another concert in hopes to see her again, but no luck. There was just something about this girl that made my heart melt and she still crosses my mind on occasion.

Just because you have been burnt doesn't mean it can't happen. People fall in love all the time with people they haven't met in person. When you communicate all the time on the phone you are connecting with that person. Some people who communicate with people on the phone know them better than the people who are right in front of them. Just because someone is in front of you doesn't mean you are really connecting with them or truly know them. I agree you should meet asap BUT it doesn't mean you can't fall in love with them before. Nothing is impossible, nothing!

I have had that first sight feeling happen to me. I met a girl and I couldnt think, breath, or move when I first saw her and when she said hello with that angel voice, I was gonna faint. I started sweating insanely, because of the girl I was looking at. she was too beautiful for the eyes and her personality was amazing... and she came on to me and started to talk. love didnt happen, sadly, but having those reactions at the first seconds of meeting someone sure means something. and I have met TONS of girls and that was the first time I felt that love at first sight feeling. I have never had this happen to me with the other girls I have been with.
