I feel like everyone in college is just looking for someone to screw...what happened to having a worth-while relationship??? I'm not about wasting time and I go to a small school where everyone knows your business. I haven't been in a relationship in awhile and I partly blame it on the atmosphere....I'm all about having fun, but I'm not trying to screw every guy on campus??? Any thoughts???

You're 19.
I thought college was a place to get an education,,? If you're asking if college aged kids are looking for meaningful long term relationships I doubt it,,,and it is too early in life to be looking for wives and husbands.
There are too many life changes coming ahead to make an honest committment with anyone, and it will be inevitable that one or the other person will have to give up opportunities to make a lasting relationship work. And that would be unfair.
I think though, that there are ample amounts of people "in college" who would be happy to have a monogomous relationship.

hahaha yea college is a place for a relationship but I am sick of all the "hooking up" people talk about.
I suppose it is silly to ask for a long-term relationship and I'm not looking for that, but something more than random "hook-ups". I think that is just plain nasty!

It's very hard if you're actually intent on doing the work. My social life suffers every semester as it does for most of my friends. It helps to date someone who's taking at least one of the classes you are though, since then they'll also be a study partner. At the same time if it doesn't work out that could be very, very awkward...

Met my ex while we were in college. We were together for 7 or 8 years. You should associate yourself with certain groups or organizations where you'll fine more serious and focused people your age.
....also you may meet more serious guys where you do your internship. Me and my ex while we were resident advisors.
Whoever you decide to date, you should make sure that their not going to be a distraction to your academic and career goals. Now is not a good time for relationship drama.

Sure you can have relationships in college.
They just don't last very long.
Anywhere between a few hours and a few months.
What is fairly unique to America is that college is also major party time (not the case in most other countries) and at the same time the last period of your life when it's actually easy to meet someone.
After college, the likelihood of having had one, two or more kids with the wrong guy(s), having gotten married a couple of times for the wrong reasons and similar stuff goes WAY up.
So, what you do after college is you gain weight, go online dating (complete with your 1/2 family) and look for 'nice guys' - who you were unable to find before because you only ever paid attention to the 'hot' a**holes.
Then you become bitter and jaded and start b*tching about stuff on the forums.
19 is a little early to start this, though.
Go have fun instead.

I agree. You have bad days and good days just like everyone else. Be true to yourself and things do go right. Never too late to learn a little patience.

READ ALL OF THIS---I thought the latest trend was HOOKING UP--seems to be the terminology these days--just HOOK UP--if you don't want anything serious--NO sex---then a blow job is fine--that is not sex. Instant gratification--Kids see it in movies and on TV--so what do you expect?? I work with young people who have no respect for what you and a few others are looking for. They think that is silly and off the wall. I hear it and see it--I work at a college with 68,000 kids enrolled. STDs are rampant---health centers are crowded---plain language posters could not be any clearer--ABSTAIN FROM SEX. But we aren't having sex--we just do oral. OH YEAH--nice blisters on you lips!! Hang in there--wait until you find a nice mature man with YOUR standards. Don't give up. Millions are hoping for the same thing you are!! I would advise you to pay attention to school and your future--and attaining a career that will ensure a successful future for YOU--finding a mate is NOT a priority at this time. BEST OF LUCK TO YOU--and please...smile!!! And do NOT drink from anything that YOU did not open--beware of date rape drugs in drinks--HOLD ON TO YOU GLASS OR BOTTLE. Report any a**hole that tries to drug you---call your campus police ASAP--or the local police--or your dad---do not tolerate disrespectful dangerous behavior. If anyone did that to my daughter--he wouldn't make it to the door--then I would look for H I S father!! I am serious--watch out for yourself at all times. College is not a game.

College is a weird place to try to find love. It's positive and negative are one in the same. (It's easy to meet new people.) Part of the reason why I chose a university is that I don't have problems studying, I just have a hard time finding time to meet new people. I'm still relatively new to the area I'm stationed. My best advice is to put your best foot forward with every person you meet. Nothing positive came from being negative. (*hints at the class I'm taking with that one.)
