From a womans point of view, you did the right thing. Its better to be honest from the start....who knows what kind of awful things may have been said later on. Most women appreciate you more for being honest enough to tell the truth, instead of catching you in a lie. Good luck finding the right woman

Fritz, knowing you the way I do, I can't imagine that you did this with anything less than the genuine kindness that is always in your heart. You care for others more than almost anyone I've ever known and I know how hard this must have been for you. I am sorry for you both. It's easy to understand why she feels the way she does for you, you have a tremendous heart.
Being honest is the true test of friendship. Some survive it, some don't. Some become bonds that will last a lifetime. You know I'm right about that. I always am. 
(Still waiting on the decoder ring!)

I think you did the right thing. If you didn't you would have lead her on and that would have hurt even more. So being honest is always the right thing to do.

nopretense, what a true gentleman you are, you show it all
over DH. The world would be a nicer place with more people
like you in it. I myself am very honest and it's nice to see
that there are others out there too. You put a smile on my face.
