Just typing it here has cheered me up. Today is my birthday. I have received greetings, good old fashioned birthday cards from those closest to me (Mum, 1 son, a best friend, and 1 new friend), but was feeling a little bit down because I do not have a significant other. A few years ago, I would have been awakened with a kiss, served a special breakfast in bed even though it was a working day and probably been given a new outfit to wear to work. By now I would have received a large bouquet of flowers at school and at lunch time a large birthday cake would have arrived to share with my students and staff. The afternoon would have sped by and I know that the evening would have had special surprises, each year was different. My late husband could be very romantic. I miss that "your the most important person in my life" feeling.
Now I am crying and tears aren't meant for birthdays. Thought if I shared this I would feel better, have to go - must cheer myself up.
