Scriptures dating back to the times of Jesus Christ were found in Nag Hammadi, upper Egypt, in about 1945. They were translated by the Vatican, each person getting every 5th page, and denounced by every religion. In Jesus' words, he says "pick up a stone, chop a piece of wood, and HE is there". Talking of his Father, saying that you don't need to be in a church, mosque, temple, etc. to find God. But that he is with you no matter where or what. Where would these houses of worship be and how financially set if everyone was to believe it.

The Nag Hammadi texts have a number of English translations, the catholic one isn't the best. To understand it better you have to look at its interlinear translation and the anthropology of the times, then compare them with the church ones. It gives a lot of information about the Jesus folk stories which the churches desperately try to conceal. Just as they have always tried to debunk and destroy all evidence which shows their belief is false.
Remember the story of jesus, is the story of someone who discovered the Buddhist Hindu approach of love and caring for all life and the interpretation of god, is all life and not entity. He tried to explain it to the yahweh barbarians and they reacted in the story, just as yahweh followers do today, violently.
