Is there such a man out there? Is seems like the ones I meet are just looking for a play toy or arent interested. I am getting too old to be playing these games. Just live life and take a chance on love and just think of how happy you could be with someone special.

They are here crying the same as you and I about commiting. I guess it's the type of guy you are looking for is why it is taking so much time. I am looking also but good things come to those that wait i know my last relationship lasted 12 yrs and i waited and was about to give up,but it happend. We did not marry for spiritual reasons but my point is if u just wait he will surely come. I am waiting and this time I am getting married

Yes, there are guys comfortable in LTR.
Most guys assume that women who want long term relationships want to get married.
Tell a guy "I'm not thinking about marriage, I want a solid relationship...someone I can depend on."
I have always had committed & long term (1-on-1) relationships.
I had never dated multiple women at the same time. Too much drama. People act like it is unusual, but when that is how you started out...you just become set in your ways (habit).
Alot of people prefer 1-on-1, but are cheated on, and you no longer want to get emotionally tied to anybody (adapt).
A couple months ago I was "enlighted."
A female friend asked me if I had ever had non-committed sex. She said it's great because she doesn't have guys trying to control her, or sitting around her house. She did what she wanted, when she wanted, and with whom she wanted. It was soo weird...it had never occured to me that some women think like that (not want a relationship). But it helped me to hear this. Women always ask me "What is it that you want?" Before...they would think I was a flake because they never knew where I stood with them, but it was because I did not understand the question. Why...because it wasn't clear to me. They wanted to know if I was interested in them for XXX, or a serious relationship. Either one was fine, but they wanted me to state it.
If you are the right person--for someone--many guys would consider LTR; it depends on the person (case by case) or their situation (family/economics).

I would love to be in a LTR too, but the problem I find is that there aren't many people out there willing to take it slow. I like to start off as friends and really get to know someone. I don't want to just jump into a relationship with someone I don't feel completely comfortable with.
And then that becomes the other problem. It makes it sound like I want to date as many women as I can before 'picking' which isn't true. Heck I would be happy with just one date lol

I have to agree with "drjonah". I think there are plenty of guys that want to be in long term relationships, especially guys that have been single for awhile. I think guys want to take it slow (Yes I know you are laughing now) but it's true. You need to develop a friendship first and take it from there. This online dating thing is tough because it seems like everything is accelerated. A guy may not know until after 20 or 30 dates or even 6 months if someone is the person he wants to be with in a LTR. Now don't get me wrong there are some "players" out there and to be honest maybe we are all players (men & women)until we find that 1 person that turns our world upside down that we want to commit to. Another thing- even some of the decent guys out there truly looking for that 1 relationship are going to try to get "into the cookie jar" very early in a relationship. We cant help it that is the way we are wired!! You have to decide at what point you are willing to "give up the prize". I know guys are going to hate me for sayng this but if you're not giving it up and the guy is still pursuing you after a couple of monts there's a good chance he is truly interested in you. Or he's a psycho that just wants what he can't have!!! Use your judgement!!! The point is they are out there!!

the problem with internet dating is finding people within a reasonable distance. i agree men want the stability that females crave but if a woman pushes to hard it will freak us out cuzz of the finality of marriage men are the same way with remotes we dont want to see whats on tv, we want to see what else is on. we tend to flip channels a lot.

But who says every woman looks for marriage when she meets someone? I mean I wouldn't mind getting married again at some point BUT that comes waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy after a relationship is established, which even that takes time.
I have just found that in this day and age it's all about the quick fix and the search for the perfect model and quite a bit is not reality based. There are a lot of good people out there and online dating could be a great tool but it really isn't. The only messages I get are requests for a quick hookup and I am sorry but I am no hooker, if that is what ya want, go to the street corner or to a bar at closing time. Do I expect months of exchange here, or someone really far away, hell no and I do open the cookie jar because women like sex just as much as men do but value me as a person.

Don't you think some of this "quick fix attitude" can be attributed to the "sometimes grueling" transition into middle age awareness? This transition has been compared to an adolescent moving into adulthood (the most difficult transition).

You are probably right that it can be... almost like the..if I don't sow my last oats now it's never going to happen.
I have also found that since the majority of people in my age group are divorced it's like the last hurrahh of trying to live it up one last time.
But trying to hang on to youth so desperately is not getting anyone anywhere, cause like it or not ..we all get older and shit tends to go south, maybe I can't grasp that mentality too well because I have lived life and done a lot of stuff so I am ready for calmer cooler waters now.

It takes some longer than others to grasp middle age but they will eventually slow down...they have to, like it or not

Absolutely there are!
That's all I've been interested in for the past few years now, and have not been quite successful in "locating" that. Then it occurred to me it will happen in it's own time, the more I looked for it, the harder it was to actually find it. (seeking creates more seeking, more needing)
I cherish loyal and devoted people. People with clear intentions and loving attitudes. People who are really wanting and enjoying the connection of another person and want to grow with that.
But yes, there are indeed plenty of men who want genuine LTR's.

On topic,Yes there are, but, see it all started when our mothers made us go shopping with them and we had to wait while she tried every damn dress in the store on,so we figured,"Hmm,try 'em before ya buy 'em",There ya go,committment issues! So it IS your fault!Every woman that EVER made any man or boy go shopping with them, why,SHAME,SHAME on you!
Women are the same way, either that,or it's just me....,OMG!It is!AAAAHHH Oh,they tolerate me for a while,(I AM pretty good),then I get serious and they dont wanna raise ANOTHER kid,so,off to the curb I go.
