hey..lets be honest here and pragmatic..
there is this question of spouces earning differently whereby the lady earns more...and she thinks the man doesnt do enough to bring an equal amount to the table...
some women think the man in question (husband) suffer from inferiority complex and therefore intimidated by the wife's higher earning power..
I think its a mans ego and all what he needs is assurances from the wife that everything is ok and his position is not threatened...by his earning less.
what do u think ladies and gentlemen of the forum.

I would hope that it wouldn't bother a man if I did earn more than him. I know in my 1st marriage I earned more than him and it didn't seem to bother him. And yes I asked him. I've been told that a few men feel that it is their duty to be the bread winner of the family so perhaps a woman who earns more may be a threat to that role. Other than that what either of us make is for the family as a whole and I don't feel that there should be any competition.

wouldn't bother me as long as the woman is bringing in a pay check to help out i wouldn't care if she was bringing in more than me it wouldn't mean i was doing less or more both sides bringing in income then its equal in my book

That was my situation for 20+ years, it didn't bother me at all. Toward the end I found out that she was convinced I was jealous of her, even though I had made it clear otherwise. She spent about eight years of our last ten very ill, the end came when she finally made it back to health but wasn't showing any desire to resume a role in the household or our relationship. When I asked her why she told me that she had always made more money than I (and still did with SSI and disability ins.) that it was only right that she do as she pleased. That's what ended the relationship.

well i think you're making something over nothing its not the fact that she reminds you of it its the fact that she may be proud and wants to proud her after all over 90 something% of men bring in more than the woman does im sure so if the woman brings in more than the man then she has every right to be proud but man i tell you just be happy that both of you have good paying jobs instead of dwelling on the fact that she makes more

I have never reminded any of my spouses on how much money each person made. Some situations come up ... trying to obtain a loan, doing taxes, etc that things are observed. I questioned my 1st husband when he had to have his pay cut and I wondered on how he felt because a few men I've seen do bring it up when a woman goes to purchase something and was told that he brings in more money than her.

I could care less.....if my 'wife' or girlfriend made more money than me, she would being making a ton of money indeed.....god bless her.....no worries here......it only means that I can get rid of my Sundancer 50 and buy a Ferretti...

I wouldn't really care. In any relationship I'm in, we're both going to work. Just because one person makes more doesn't always mean they work harder at what they do. In fact, I'd probably like it if she made more than me. When I was married, I worked nights and she worked days, so I did all of the housework, cooking, raising our daughter..So her bringing in the extra money would probably make me feel a little better about it.

In my experiences it went one of two ways...Either the man didn't care and didn't try to better themselves(basically using me) OR it was a blow to their ego and they had a big problem with it...I have always made more then the men I date but I have learned to down play my assets for those reasons

hey id love to send the wife out and bring home the bacon and be a stay at home dad. i had to do that every winter when im laid off and i actually enjoy spending time with the kids and doin housework. gives me more quality time. plus it would be nice to show her how to run a house without watching soaps and spendin all day on the pc while the dishes and laundry pile up. but...then again, i might sit here and talk to you fine people all day.

of cousre not. but i do masonry and wow if i could stay home instead of bakin in the hot sun and throwin 250 lb curb forms around all day ...hell yeah! laundry basket is much lighter. and maybe i can meet the maillady, and milk lady, and have her laid off friends come over for coffee while shes workin, and ...dont get me started...

lol....my ex didnt work for several years we were married and/or was on unemployment. He either stayed on the puter or hung out at his derelict cousins or somewhere else. I got to clean house and cook when I got home. He DID do his own laundry though...whenever I told him to.

damm miko,that says a lot about you to put up that with kind of crap for years and not hold it against him ,cause i know it bothered me well my wife sat at home, and complained i wasnt makeing enough money.
