Or, in the same of my namesake,
Theory
Into love and out again,
Thus I went and thus I go.
Spare you voice and hold your pen--
Well and bitterly I know
All the songs were sung,
All the words were ever said;
Could it be when I was young,
Some one dropped me on my head?

I think treating every date as a good friend, being open honest and a good listener is key. Sometimes it GROWS on its own to a wonderful relationship, but maybe not the romantic one you seek. Some times they disappear from your life, and so be it, move on.
I have found that most men I have been in a relationship even if it did not work out, have remained very good friends for years.
I can still talk to them openly about anything.
If LOVE is going to happen it just happens on its own, you cant force it. If it doesnt, you may have just made a wonderful friend for life.
Go out and enjoy life, and let it just happen. Choose your companions wisely, those who are honest, mature and open. Dont try so hard. It takes time to build a solid relationship with someone. After a few dates with them you will know if its someone worth spending your time with..
good luck
enjoy the journey.........
