Happy Wednesday Morning Sisters and Brothers All
Curious Sister
strings,
If I believed in coincidence I would say what a coincidence that I asked you that question and you deal with autism??
that is serendipity??
Am I to assume that you as well work with Autistic individuals?
we don't think of animals as disengaged, and they live in a state of grace, jesus tells us to be like the animals,
I beg to differ sister, Jesus did say : "Be ye as children", not animals; Although humans are of the animal classification
what would a soul stripped of ego look like to us egoic people? they would look disconnected from the physical world,
Disconnected is a fairly accurate description of a person devoid of ego. Always appearing to be focused on other matters. Emotionally withdrawn from external activity?
so since each sense is a different consciousness, couldn't this also count for the savant type behavior, since one that is say egoic in tactile consciousness, they would become what would look to us like almost obsessed with texture, and isn't there a sort of group for each sense regarding autism? so that say one might be auditory and tactile affected, and not hearing, or sight?
and wouldn't this also suggest that overloading the deficient senses while limiting or completely disallowing the dominant ones, might balance the senses ?
do you know if this has been studied? or tried? as a treatment?
like in Rain man, he would have been a visual savant because he was proficient at order, and it was visual, same with the mathmatician guy they did the movie about, and the musical ones, arent they almost blind in some cases?
just curious,lol
Just an extremely focused individual that is not quite blind to other less interesting fields. I also would not say that they are balanced in their senses either, I am not saying that a person without Autism is more balanced. They true question on this is : What is balance; is it what the majority of humanity share? Perhaps the majority are out of sync. Perhaps this is why it is advised by Jesus to Be ye as children.
May your day be filled with
Peace and Love

strings, Jesus did indeed tell us to be like children, over and over he tells us this,
but he also said be like the birds, have faith like birds, they don't worry about food, and the lillies of the field, they don't worry about clothes, and yet they are both beautifully graced with both.
Matthew6;25-34
I also wanted to tell you on this subject, I found a passage in the tao Te Ching, that I think might be talking about Autism, as we have been discussint it,
I can't find it right now and it is getting late, but I really want to find it, because i think it fits what we are talking about here, have you read the tao?

Burnkitty writes...
As far as I can gather, a soul's primary function is the accumulation of knowledge, experiences, and decisions over time, giving it structure and definition.
I suppose it depends on how you are defining the Soul. Obviously you are gathering information outside of the Scriptures. The Soul, as defined in the Bible, in not able to accumulate knowledge. It is only capable of experiencing sensations. There are 3 main aspects to the Soul. I have published this information in another post.

not that I disagree with you, I don't. but could you please tell me where to find that passage so I can read context please?
also, I think what burnkitty describes is egoic consciousness, almost perfectly.
it sounds as if burnkitty might be confusing egoic emotions with spirituality. and I hate to tell anyone this but the cure for the egoic consciousness, is complete disaster, addicts call it rock bottom. people that are addicted to money call it bankrupt.
the thing is when the ego is stripped of value, what is left of value is spirituality, THAT is your essence
If you can remember the feeling after september 11th, an almost calm, that is spirituality, the ego has no control, and just has to experience without input from the little voice in your head that analyzes everything. which is your egoic self.
The Bible is so clear as is the tao te ching that acquisition is the root of evil, It is easier to pass a camel through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into heaven.
you can't serve two masters, refers to what drives you, If being good in spirit drives you, you will be rich in heaven he is saying, because heaven is a spiritual kingdom.
Give to caesar what is caesars, was a statement Jesus made when the Pharisees were trying to trick him into saying they didn't need to pay taxes, and he isn't telling them to pay their taxes, HE is saying he isn't concerned with matters of state, he is concerned with matters of Gods Kingdom, which he says in Matthew is the Kingdom of spirit, therefore IF GOD is the King, he is spirit, and If we are subjects of the spirit kingdom, which we must choose to be by what we value, WE are spirit too, and WE are eternal just as God is. It is value +Intention = action and pay it forward ,it keeps coming back because, what goes around comes around, and you are judged, as you judge.
when things are done right, they go well, when they don't, they go bad, look at the churches, do they look like they know what they are talking about? Hell No.

Curious I like you and like to read what you have to say, BUT, sometimes I think if I read 'egoic' one more time, I will stop there and not read another word. You are sounding like a christian that is just repeating something over and over--like if you say it enough everyone will finally get it.
I totally disagree with your idea that there is anything wrong with any part of us and that we have to reject any part of who we are to be acceptable.

Bigd, I will give you the fact that I'm not gathering ideas strictly from the bible, but I am also not excluding it from the factor either. The definition as per bible terminology may only describe certain aspects of the soul, not the entire of it. But I can agree that the definition of its' function can be debatable. Curious has pointed out many variants. Mayhaps you would like to include the aforementioned sections of the soul as they appeared in your other thread, and we can go from there. Thank you.

Queen,
do you ever make a post without bashing a Christian?
I do agree that Curious is hung up on the word "egoic" and I too am a little tired of its overuse but you are worse than the Christians you talk about. You are taking your distaste for us just a little too far. Maybe it is your "egoic" self!

Dana, are you seriously telling me that out of all the subject matter being discussed on this thread, the only thing you were looking to do was not answer the question? If you'd take your lack of inclusion elsewhere, that would be just great. Take your insults with you. Come back when you'd like to include a viable opinion.

My point Dana, was not to bash christians, but to use them as a reference. I was saying the same mantra, used over and over loses it's interest after a few dozen times and becomes boring. Maybe if you were not sitting out there in lurking state, just waiting to find something I say that you can find to jump on, you would see that.
I do not hate christians, just their attitude that anyone that does not accept their belief's, is because they have not heard it enough. So if they keep repeating it Pagans will finally SEE it.

Queen,
I would understand if you made statements about all religions or that there is no God or any such statements. But if anyone looks at many of your posts it would seem obvious to many I am sure the burr under the saddle for you is the Christian. Forget it I have made the point for the last time, drive on!!!

Queen,
I don't believe you have to reject the egoic self, I just think you have to be aware thet it exists. It is the part of us that deals with the world, It is impossible to reject it. That is the point.
I say egoic because sure as shit, if I use another word for it, some asshole is going to say, Hey aI thought you said that was egoic. I could find another term, but it is the same thing.
we are talking about spirituality, and it is kind of hard to talk about one side of a subject, and get anything out of it.
How about the Yang? will that make you feel better? It is the same thing, I just like the term egoic better because it is easier for me.

Queen,
I am not a Christian, and as far as I know the term is NOT chritian, so you are preaching to the choir, apparently I didn't use the term enough because you still didn't grasp it.
are you a baby boomer? Im not surprised? they are the biggest me me me people in the history of the world. They invented entitlements Just FOR them. It is a sociological trait. never to be matched in the history of human kind.

Yes dear sister, very true. The birds do not worry and we know how harmful worry and stress can be towards humanity. However, birds are avian and not animal.
I am just being technical when I refer to that statement and for a good reason.
Animals hunt and fight, so do humans. Humans are doing it to each other for a no good reason really.
We have a low tolerance towards ourselves compared to the (lessor) animals

strings,
It was late when I posted that, but specifically, the passage in the tao te ching said something like what would a human look like born without yang, and it sounds like autism. specifically, that was what I was trying to remember, and I still havent found it, but I want to see, I can sort of see, how it could be a blessing, to live in a state of spiritual consciousness all of the time, or most of the time, and I can see how it might look like you were disconected from the world, because you are disconnected to THAT world.
If you are all YIN, with NO eye, passive and receptive, and completely non judgmental, only reactionary, and if each of the senses represents another consciousness.
Isn't the diving bell movie about something similar?
