***Sports isn't a big subject spoken here folks but if a woman shares a man's interests, it should be important too and reciprocal too***

The 2008 baseball season starts in less than a month and many of us live in an area that supports a major league team; if not, supports a good minor league team instead or a following too: so which is your team of choice or do you have a favorite baseball related movie instead to mention???

1) Many of us grew up on baseball, or maybe we hate the sport but for reasons listed as a poll says above, it's different now because what interests our children and/or my grand kids have made us a fan now, you may say...Isn't it about what our kids/ and grandkids love too???

2) What about if you're a fan already since child hood, who gets the credit for making you a fan of the game back then??? Did you ever thank them for making you a fan of the game??? Maybe they are not around now but why not give them praise and say thank you to them now...

3) Men or woman, have you actually ever played baseball and/ or softball on any level (organized or not) gym class/ co-ed counts at picnics too, if we remember that far back... Did you have fun too??? Or are you just an athletic supporter and just love supporting any team, you love best...

*** remember ladies, you know sometimes the way to a man's heart besides feeding them food, is sharing their interests too*** everyone is welcome for opinions here...thanks

As a kid, we used to play baseball in the back yard with all the neighbor kids. I played second base. In high school, I watched those same guys play ball and remember being envious that girls weren't allowed to play. In my twenties, I was on an all girl softball team. I never went to a professional game til I became an adult. Watching the Texas Rangers? Like watching paint dry. I'd rather play than watch.

I can't remember who taught me.

fair enough about paint drying (thought that was in Hoosiers movie that only happened..lol...), after my playing days ended i had to stay somehow on the field...coached the game and umpired on the HS and college level and that kept me in shape for a long time until 8 yrs ago and now my remote control gets all the exercise now flipping channels as i do...if i return to my town i grew up, it's always great to see someone who taught me the game or maybe i taught the game to...talking baseball is a high itself...and i credit my late dad squarting behind a plate in his Sunday suit to catch my fast ball/other pitches too into my mid teens, until one of my friends took over from that time on...

I realy never was introduced to it. Played some soft ball in country grade school and that was it. You had to be a town kid to play baseball or basketball. Us country boys were aloud in football though....smiles.

My Dad was a great ballplayer... was drafted by Philly but hurt his knee that same summer - actually played on the Army team in Korea and that got him an office job creating the Army phone book. It was that and showing up at the massive try-outs for the Little League "Colt" Division when we were still pretty young.

I have to say other....not into it as a kid, but played softball on a church team one year in my 30's and loved it. Most fun was coaching my son's Little League team...mothers were "supposed" to coach their daughter's softball teams in the town we lived in, but neither of my girls were interested in playing, my son wanted to play in the worst way, and his team had no Dads willing to step up to the plate, (no pun intended, really!) so I did. Most fun I ever had. And we even won a few games.

Last fall some good friends of mine invited me to my first "real" baseball game, the minor league Springfield Cardinals team here in town. I had so much fun, I am already planning to take my son to a game this year.

My Mom was a big Baseball fan.

Now, my brother in law of 43 years is 65 and about 10 years ago, he organized Tennessee's Finest, Senior Citizen SoftBall team in Chattanooga. He has since added the BasketBall teams. Broken in years like 50-55, 55-60, 60-65,65-70, yes and 70 and up.

Great bunch of guys trying to stay active and having a great time.

Not exactly on topic, but I did mark your dot.
