Thanks Gregg and Lastime...good points. I never said the driver's weren't atheletes - just that I didn't feel that car racing (didn't say "only' Nascar) was a true sport; but your point, Lastime, about the luge, etc., is well taken...and valid.

Specific to Nascar.....For me, there are many facets that lend to the excitement of a live event. The engines coming to life with a roar, the blur of the passing throng nose to tail....I love the driving and pit stategies, the technological achievements of the car itself, the teamwork involved and after all is said and done the winner is usually a surprise. Lady Luck rules.
It's a combination of engineering superiority, talented team work at all levels, iron wills, competitive skills of the fittest bodies and minds, thrilling entertainment and pure luck. I'll stop at that
