To be honest i have a hard enough time talking to anyone with a picture that i don't know.
Unfortunately there are so many fake profiles that having a picture is not a contract of honesty.
Thread lightly.
What else can we do?

I talk with everyone that sends me mail.
I know some people are new to the computer world and may not have the camera and or knowledge of posting a pic.
Give everyone a chance at least you never know.

I have before... It never seems to last long, tho. I have a hard time knowing someone is "real" without seeing them on webcam...

i have spoken to people who had no pic, even spoke to one on the phone. i just want to see one before we meet in person so if she has something like a birth defect or missing eye i can get over it before hand so there isn't that awkward shocked moment when we meet face to face. that's never a good way to start a first date

Well this guy with character needs to see what he is getting into. I'm actually searching for a relationship. Guess that's just a shallow trait of mine. I need to see what I'm investing my time into. I'm going to have to see them at some point, why not now!

I have received emails from people with no picture. I look at their profile. I read through it to make sure it is not some kind of scam, or fishy looking.. and then I respond.
If they have no picture, and no profile words, I hesitate in replying. I wait a day or two to see if they put anything in their profile. If they don't, I reply with "Why don't you put something in your profile so people can find out more about you."

I prefer not to, but "shadows" are people too. What I don't get is that they post profiles with no pictures, yet when they email someone, they will say or send you a picture of them privately.
I know there are often reasons that folks don't want their pictures up on the net, but hey we life in a world of technology today. If you are on a dating site and don't feel you can put your picture on it, maybe you shouldn't be on a dating site. Hiding things upfront... Makes me think, what else are they hiding.
