Any lyrics that are degrading to women are unacceptable. Porn is too much in your face these days and I really find it offensive.

Well, if rap is degrading, then please explain why back in college at my frat house we would play every week "Put it in your mouth" and the girls would scream the lyrics. At the time it was a great site, but now reading some of the comments I am a little confused?

This simple fact is this.............your kids are going to listen to it. You can't watch them 24/7. I have instilled self respect and morals in my daughters. I saw in a previous post calling those of us who don't think so stupid or something to that nature. Well, it is stupid to think that people are not going to listen to it. Yes, I think some of it goes to far, but hell. I think some of the stuff my daughter deals with everyday at school from other kids is crazy. Kids learn behavior from their parents and the people closest to them in everyday life, how these people handle situations are how the children will handle them. To me blaming things on music and t.v. is bullshit. Just because I hear music with shooting and sleeping around doesn't give me the right to do these things. I do have morals and self respect and I have instilled them deep in my daughters and no music is going to change a child that has been raised that way. That is my personal opinion.

I think your statement is too broad, if a song refers to a lady as a ho or in some other degrading term, then obviously yes, but if it is one of many rap songs that are referring to the times, the situation the singer is or has been in, or whatnot, then it isn't necessarily degrading... As far as porn, well I agree with Nina Hartley and the sex positive crowd that it doesn't have to be... However it seems that recently there has grown up this whole choking, ATM, Dirty Sanchez type of demeaning porn and in that case, once again, Obviously Yes!
I think Nina Hartley is awesome and love her educational videos.

It is only degrading to individuals who aren't confident in themselves and believe thier own inadequacies and intolerance or lack of accepting other perspectives should be automatically accepted by everyone else. When it ain't they feel it is below them ....hence degrading.

Thats complete rubbish Krupa. I happen to be a confident person. Not at all interested in having to tolerate sexist lyrics let alone dancing to them,
Each to thier own.

What you have to realise is that our generation of women were brought up with a
strong feminist movement. We revered and looked up to women such as the artiste Freda Kahlo and members of the feminist movement.
These days young girls relate to people like Jordan, with no talent for anything other than parading around with false breasts, proud to show them off at any opportunity.
We are living in a kind of silicone fantasy world, where plastic surgery rules, porn is ridiculously exploited and rap music is becoming tedious and boring.
Get a hold of yourself, we want something fresh and new to relate to. Not all this clapped out bullshit.
