I do not take offense. Pictures may indeed be important to some people...I guess I'm a stubborn ol' COOT. I don't care how a person looks on a photo! I sincerely care about who he is first. The profile statement is most important to me. I'm not hiding a thing! Those who have met me, I'm sure will agree. I, for the first time in my life, want a man to be interested in who I am first. Women, we probably read the profiles more than the men. I have had winks, messages, and that thing that scares the heck out of me...instant messages and kisses or whatever. Many of those men ask me the same thing that is already posted. I refuse to post a picture. Everyone does not need to see me. Only the ones I am willing to take a chance with will meet me! All six foot of me and he can judge me from there.

Honestly, it takes a little time to get over the "ickyness" of feeling like a piece of meat on display for internet public judging. You either get over it or don't. If someone dosen't want to get to know you because of how you look - who needs them anyway? Same goes if how you look is the only reason they want to talk to you - delete&block is our friend.
Everybody has a range of what appeals to them and what does not, that's the natural order of things. If you ever plan on actually meeting someone - best to have it all out on the table from the start tho. Sometimes it's hard to be objective about ourselves but it's best to be as honest and straightforward as we can. You're doing good if people you meet can tell it's you from your photo and tell you you're just like you present yourself. No one is going to be everyones cup-o-tea, it's not necessarily rejection but non-selection/non-match of being what the other wants and needs - you have your own and that's cool too. No big whoops.

Hello, my name is Elly. I just wanted to comment about not putting pictures of yourself on a dating site. If someone sends me a wink, chances are I'm not going to wink back at a grey shaded outline of a head and body!  I might if I like their profile or they live in an area that appeals to me. It's not because their looks are all that important to me, but because I feel like it's being phony.  Sure, I know people can put old, distorted or "souped up" pictures on there to, and I would also consider that phony if they didn't explain themselves. When you get to your 50's, there is not much you can do about growing hair (if you are bald), getting taller (if you are short), etc; sure you could lose weight, grow hair longer; change the color, etc., but you can't really change a lot, now can you? God made us how we are;  different looks appeal to different women (or men). What may not appeal to one definitely appeals to another. Don't ever be ashamed of yourself. If you are in your 50's like me, face it, we are 1/2 century old! And age, is only the number of years you have lived, not how OLD you are, anyway.  If you don't have a digital camera, or don't have any pictures on your computer or a cd, or don't know how to download them if someone e-mails some to you, ask someone to help you and figure it out! It's better to start off honestly and see what happens? Be , not phony  Don't you agree?
