A Prayer For Mama

My dear sweet heavenly father I come to you today,
with faith and hope I ask, send an angel Mama's way.
I know her time is near and soon you'll take her home,
to stroll across the streets of gold where other angels roam.
It's hard to watch her suffer and slowly fade away,
help me God to understand, give me strength I pray.
She means so much to all of us, forgive me for my fears,
life will never be the same without her presence here.
My mother is my angel, she taught me how to love,
and told me about you lord and heaven up above.
When she crosses over and steps into the light,
tell her that I love her and when the time is right.
Meet me at the pearly gates where every thing's brand new,
we'll walk across God's meadow lands where skies are always blue.
Somewhere beyond the sunset every now and then,
I pray she watches over me until we meet again.

Father....although I am only associated with Alicia online....I know you know her needs. I would like to ask that you allow her peace and comfort during this really difficult time. I ask that you be with her family and allow them the strength while caring for her ailing Mother. God...please as well be with any doctors and nurses and give them the compassion as you would show, guide their hands and give them the knowledge to keep Alicia's dear Mother out of pain. I ask all this in You Precious Son' Jesus Name....Amen

You inspired me to write a letter to my siblings about their Mom. I have a hunch they had no knowledge of this...

Hey you guys,
I was sitting here and I remembered a time long ago. It was the mid XX's, 19XX or 'XX.
Your Mother, (aka) Mad Dog XXXXXXXX, was an addicted radio soap opera game gambler. Radio, because these were the days before TV.
She enlisted me in her sordid ways at age 6 or 7. I was Mad Dog's runner. A runner, for those of you who do not know, is the one who carries the envelope back and forth between gambler and bookie.
Her green tinted shade pulled low over her eyes, cigarette dangling from her lips... (Yes, your Mother still smoked then) My instructions were always the same. "Take this, run as fast as you can and don't let anyone see you".
I was short, but I was fast. I had a nemesis, Susan XXXXX. She was an older, good lookin' broad of about 8 or 9. She lived the next block over. I had my eye on here, but she didn't know I was alive. 
One day while I was runnin' to the drop off spot... there she was. I was ahead, but she was gainin'. Two blocks left to go... and she beat me just as we went through the door.
It was a timed thing, see. Ya had to get there with your envelope before anyone else to win first place.
After all the envelopes were checked for accuracy, Mad Dog came in second. I told her I was sorry, but she had a couple of her goons rough me up anyway.

Winning answer... "A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you"?
I think Mad Dog's winnings were all of $10, which was a lot of money in those days.
The next time I ran, I was allowed to get a nickel popsicle...
So, now you know something about your Mother you probably didn't.
