The golden truth here folks is that you take the people you meet on net with a grain of salt. It's the net. How many people on the net are honest about themselves? If Craigslist has taught us anything it is make absolutely sure of who it is you're dealing with before you decide to meet them. You can never tell who you're dealing with from written words. Hell, it might not even be a girl (or dude in the case of ladies) you're talking too. Apparently, there are scammers targeting dating sites too. Anyone here ever hear of this? Apparently the way it works is the scammer will put up profiles using photos of very attractive people that could only be stolen, will claim they are from a local area but are stranded in a foreign country and need financial assistance. African countries mostly. I nearly go sucked into one myself until shot her (or possibly his) story ti pieces. Bottomline: use the utmost disgression when dealing with people on the net. Anyone surprised by people who fake photos of themselves even though its a dating site?

I met a dude on here and talked to him for about a week before we met up. I like a man to be taller than me and that is not too hard cause I'm only 5'2". On his profile he stated that he was a bad boy but moved here to make a change and that he was 5'8". So I go meet up with him and he is MAYBE the same height as me and all that he is talking about is getting into bar fights and stealing cars.  Our phone conversations were mostly about our dreams and aspirations, our family and friends, goals we were making. . . .. . then we meet and he is the most violent speaking little man I have ever met in my life??? We never spoke again.

A rule of thumb is if they've told ONE lie about their identity, everything else is a lie too. And of course there are those who simply photoshop their photos to make tyemselves look more attractive.If you're big, fine, but be honest about it. The foundation of every relationship is trust, and if you can't even be honest about yourself, there's no possibility of you ever being trusted, forget about having a relationship.

Worst part of this is that the net is a little bit like Vegas: what happens here, stays here. Any photo or video put on the net stays there forever even if the original poster deletes it, so not really possible to hide their lie. There actually ways to find out their real identity like asking about any tattoos or any other distinguishing feature. It's really pathetic to pretend to be someone you're clearly not.

I think it's very common.
You have quite a few women online that love to undercut their age by at least 5+ years and tend to show pictures from their glory days. Always ask for a head-to-toe picture, or close to it, if possible. If she refuses or brushes it off as not important, then simply walk away.
I really dislike women that say..."well, it's the inside that counts". While I agree, I'm not staring at your innards now am I. I'm staring at your rolly polly jelly belly in disbelief.
Yes OP, it's all too common. Especially the close up cleavage pics and nothing else. Always be weary of those. I made that mistake once, and while it wasn't as nasty as the picture posted by the 2nd guy in this thread, it wasn't entirely far off.
We met, I tried to refrain from going wide-eyed in disbelief. I left less than 5 minutes later, saying it was nice to meet you, have to go. The point being, I wasted time online and wasted time going to meet her.
Another classic is 'Average' weight. Right...I'll be the judge of that one thank you very much.

I met one guy he had lot less hair and more weight than his pic but we had a nice dinner anyway. I don't think the pic was ancient just not recent, we weren't a match but then I'm not all about looks though anyway and it was an ok date.

If you really want to get to know the person and really see what they appear like, invest in a webcam before actually meeting the person. A webcam you can get under $60 bucks and sure beats the price of gas when having to drive and meet the person to see they are not what expected!
By the way, my pic was taken last week! I believe in keeping it real, you either like what you see, or don't....

I just met someone for coffee off a whim which I normally don't do. The guy had posted a picture from 15 years ago & he looked completely different. I wouldn't have minded had he posted a recent pic cause I don't get hung up on looks but the fact he had posted such an old pic I consider to be a lie, a red flag & a def. deal breaker.

I do not understand what people are hinkig when they post misleading pictures. I have made sure that evrryone I speak with understands I am not ateeny tiny girl. Im not super huge eiher but ive lost over 140 lbs over that past year and half, and have a few more to go. I always send pix if we communicate beyond this site, because I dont want anyonentuinking I'm something I'm not. One guys asked if I was over 250 lbs, I sId wellnno, not even 200 lbs but also not 100 lbs. My pix are very cuurent and are really me. Idk what they thinknwhenn they post old pic. 2ndif guy were going to meet me saying they each were 43. One was 68, the other 72. Its aggravatingnto dealmwith to say the least. And I justbont see how I could feel comfortable withnsomeone had I met them based on oldmlying pix of me. I just dont understand the thought process behijd it, because othing can explain whyapix would be posted that is entireoy false. Well, I should've say I do need to update my pix because inactually have last anothern25 lbs sijcenthe pix I have on my profilen at this time. Id never lie like thatnits horrible

What's worse? Someone that tells you they weigh a certain way.....you see that in a pic.....they are nothing like they are in pic or description.....as a matter of fact.....do you recall that movie ''CATFISH''? Yeah.....it was like that with me....guy I went to go meet was white and instead I got a heavy duty black man wearing black n white checker board shirt that looks like a table cloth. Thank you for not having a cam I say? Never again!

If it's so easy for a person to lie to you about something so simple as recent pictures & honesty about the weight....in reality it says a lot. What else will they lie about?
To me, it pisses me off when you show up somewhere to meet & they are 10 years older and 40 pounds heavier. They are a liar, probably have a self esteem issue since they had to lie, are totally inconsiderate, and it shows a lack of respect to me. My time is valuable.

One of the best compliments I ever got was. "Wow, a guy that actually looks like his pic". It's called truth in advertising. I've seen profiles circa 1970's!!! Same with restaurants. How often does you meal look the picture on the menu? rarely. But it when it does? I'm floored over it.

I update pics every few weeks. However i wear make up in some pics n some i don't so check out a lot of different pics before u meet. I ask to see a few different ones, different angles, different lighting all can change how u look in pics.
When i meet someone i just say to myself ....he is just a person...n its just a first meeting so you don't freak out either way.

The guy stepped out of his car.I thought it was someone Dad.But it was my date.He said that he was 37 but looked like 73.From that point things went south very quickly.

I went out on a whim a couple months ago. One of my biggest turn offs is people who lie. So this guy I meet had posted a pic from 15 years ago & looked nothing like the pic. If he would have just been honest in the first place. Things would have been fine.

I have not met up with anyone on a site, i think because if they are not who they portray i will immediately tell them to F off for wasting my time. I could care less if we had good conversation online, it was based on lies and if i get called shallow i also don't care. I'm sorry but i don't know about anyone else (or people willing to admit it) Everything is based on looks. I don't look at unattractive men, yeah, their personality may be great but if you are not easy on the eyes, i cannot even entertain it.

This is lying by omission of a visual medium. I have met several gals whose photos were slim and trim and then meet a morbidly obese woman. Its good to meet early on for both to ascertain potential chemistry and destermine if narrative and photos are honest and accurate and then proceed...

I think the biggest shock for me was meeting someone who wore a hat in all their pictures, and it never occurred to me to ask if they had hair... It wasn't an issue, it was just a little surprising when he took his hat off the first time haha. And no teeth. How do you not warn someone you have no teeth!?

I personally was disappointed , I drove an hour to meet this girl and she sent me a pic that same day looking nice and fit. False advertising will make your dates worse or non existant people , if you are ashamed of how you look do something about it or date someone in your weight/body mass/league!
Ive met a couple guys Online. Ive learned to get their FB, IG, snapchat, kik or something before we meet! kik and snapchat lets you take a "now pic" try it! Will save you time money and disappointment!!

Which time? I have had so many different experiences...
- one that posted a pic from High School 20 years before
- one who's pic was of her younger sister ("But we look alike!"- I don't think so...)
- one who posted a pic that was re-touched (very poorly, I might add)
- one who's pic was of her and her friend and I had to guess which one was her
- one who posted a pic of her that was only 2 years old, but BEFORE she had 2 kids back-to-back and looked like Hell now
- a couple who's pic was simply not them in the least
Etc, etc, etc.
You just have to roll with it, and sometimes I make bets to myself if she is going to look anything like her pic or not before the first date!

Well, I personally hate people that would lie about something so stupid. I'm not perfect and I don't pretend to be.. I have a real description explained on my profile so that anyone not interested can pass me by and not waste my time.
But man some people are so ridiculous. I went to a coffee shop to meet this guy after talking to him for about 2 weeks. He had A BUNCH of pictures. And honestly seemed legit. I get there and instead of the white guy in all of the (Same person) pictures... A black guy approaches me. I nearly died laughing.

I personally take good pics!!! . I don't like looking bad ... I do put that I am large. I never touch my pics, lie about them . Im always taking pictures of myself lol. I have always told people I'm bigger and never lied!!!
With that being said I met a guy from here ( I deleted my account) who said he wAs 34? Like younger then me and average size in his pic. He got here and had to have been over 40 and 300-400 pounds... I was polite and took a very short walk then that was it and he had the nerve to ask why I didn't talk to him anymore???

I know my pics are not the best. They are real. Not trying to hide anything. Having said that, pics can be deceiving. Till you meet you don't know who the person is.
