Making soup is a good and thrifty way to use up leftovers! I read a hint once about keeping a container in the freezer and when you just had a few spoonfuls of a veggie, but not enough for another meal, just put it in the container and when the container was full, make a pot of soup!

THat suggestion has merit Altje , but certain veggies seem to clash when in same pot with others ,to me anyhow , my tastes vary ,I have found that cauliflower , broccoli , Turnips & Parsnips are best when in a cheese based creamed soup & not mixed with the standard , carrots , spuds , onions , 'maters,plus meats etc;..... And Cabbage , Brussel Sprouts , leeks , rutabagas make another with ham or beef Brisket , Corned or fresh..

.....Had a big pot of broccoli and cauliflower cooked together for supper last night. Right tasty. Can't remember the last time i cooked a rutabaga. Might go to store in a few minutes and get a couple and cook them for supper and make a big skillet of cornbread. Yum. yum.

Mother of baby is son's wife's daughter--I don't see them as much as my own...."complicated -lives in another town with new husband " but when the rolls called on Holidays they are here.

Same here Alex , we have 3 major Trout hatcheries & trout parks , thousands crowd the banks on opening day even if the temps are near zero.but when that opening day whistle blows , you wont find me there , not till late April or early May, you betcha .

We have the nicest trout stream--and we got the land--for a fish hatchery--spent millions on it...and because our representative Kent Williams--a republican agreed with the Democrats on an issue--they black-balled him in Nashville and won't let him have the money to finish it....for us , the voters.....

Newlady--was a beautiful shirt weather--ran around, stopped at fruit stand, got apples checked on husbands cemetery flowers...were fine--then had lunch, and came home and washed my dirty car..so was busy day. "for me" Good you enjoyed yourself.

Floods , mud slides , fires under ground , possible earth quakes as season progreses. let's all head to California , warm heavy smoggy mornings to start yer day before you get on 6 to 8 lane freeways to find the roads blocked by rock slides , but what the heck , you might be stuck in traffic jam next to a cranky hop headed actor you have always wanted to see in person.Have good day.

Will begin my Road Trip in less than two days. Going to West Monroe, Louisiana. Will pass through South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi. Have never traveled through these many States by Car. An Adventure for me. Going with My Daughter and G/Daughter. I so hope the weather will be better. Will have pictures of my visit to "Duck Dynasty Territory" on my profile when I get back.
Let me hear from anyone on here that has traveled through these States. Also, if you know what the weather is going to be like on Thursday in these States.

I lived in south Georgia close to Savannah--stop by and say hi to Paula--
Really not that fantastic--Grand-daughter is going there though to Savannah beach--or Tybee--whichever you want to call it.......be safe and have fun--eat a Benya for me---bet they are good.
