I have a huge wood/brown leather clock hanging in my living room that is battery operated, and a wind up grandfather clock as well. I barely notice the chimes on the grandfather clock when theyre turned on, unless someone mentions them.

My grandparents have a cuckoo clock that my parents bought for them in Germany in 1980. Still works flawlessly.

I used to have one of those that made bird noises on the hour and half hour. You could learn your bird calls as time went by, because each hour had the picture of the bird making the call, at the hour in question. It didn't tick, though. I haven't dealt with a ticking clock since the Cuckoo clocks my parents had.

I have no clocks at all in my house, but love grandfather clocks. Had one when I was married but the ex got custody of that.

I have nine: a cuckoo clock which tic tocks constantly and cuckoos on the hour with a little bird that comes out with twirling ladies in the diningroom, an every 15 minutes part song chimer adding up the parcels to the full blown westminster tune (if that be what it is )on each hour, a tic tock noise maker in the master bedroom, a cherub decorative clock in the guest room with the same tune as the one in the livingroom, a clock in the kitchen with bears on it that I should have set out with the chickenshit weasels other junk, one in the diva room, and one in the bathroom, one outside at the pool and one downstairs. All but one of them needs new batteries at the moment.

I've always thought it was cool that all you needed to do to make it run was make sure the weights were pulled up.

I have one in my living room stuck on 5 o'clock. Will not add new battery. It's 5 o'clock somewhere. Also one in my kitchen that needs a new battery.
Old clock radio in the bedroom that still works fine. Use microwave and phone for time.

I've got 2 battery wall clocks...1 of a rooster in my kitchen & the another battery decorative clock hanging in my bathroom.

When I was a lil kid, my neighbor & aunt had ancient cuckoo clocks, I was fascinated by them. I would always ask them "How does that lil bird surivive in there without any food"?
...I was about 6 or 7yrs old. They got a good laugh when I'd ask them that

I have wind up clocks and watches and battery ones. I like the windups. They never have dead batteries. lol. I bought from Vermont Coutnry Store catalog, a windup Big Ben alarm clock style. I had one as a child and listened to the TICK TOCK at night. It is a comforting memory to me. Once I went to turn off the alarm when it was time to go to school. Somehow, half asleep, I got my finger stuck in the key. It was bringgg..eck..ing..erk..bring... Got my finger out and got it stuck AGAIN. Finally got it off. Mom opened my bedroom door and came in and said..what ARE you doing? Strangling the poor clock. I have her cuckoo clock but the chain is jammed so doesnt work. Note on grandfather clocks..they are touchy about leveling. I was going to buy one..the store guy said he would deliver it and then I had to to have a stable floor spot. He would level it. And had to be perfect to run it. If it settled or jarred, might have to be re-leveled. So that is why one may not want to run. Gave it up since too much bounce and confusion in my living room in the only place it would fit.

TICK TOCK POLKA

Tick, tick, tick tock
Goes the clock on the wall
As we're dancing the evening away

Tick, tick, tick tock
Goes my heart
With the clock beating time
While the music is played

Tick, tick, tick tock
Is the rhythm it plays
And I know it
Won't make you feel blue

Tick, tick, tick tock
Goes my heart with the clock
Cause it knows
I am dancing with you

I can't stand clocks that tick tock. I won't have one in my bedroom for sure. They drive me crazy if I hear them in a quite room because I get them stuck in my head.

EVERYONE does! Do they even make clocks that run on electricity anymore? I just changed the battery in my battery operated clock a day ago.

The old clocks were cool, it is amazing how people figured out how all that worked without the modern tools we have today.
