'Monumentally Stupid' Anti-Gun PSA Urges Kids to Steal Parents’ Firearms

For once, gun control advocates and gun rights groups agree – they’re fired up about a new video that urges kids to steal their parents’ guns and hand them over to teachers at school.

The controversial Dec. 13 clip from Sleeper 13 Productions in San Francisco, titled “Stop Gun Violence - PSA,” shows a teen boy take a handgun from his mother’s dresser drawer, stash it in his backpack and bring it to class. Walking up to his teacher after the period ends, the student slaps the gun on her desk. “Can you take this away?” the child actor asks the shocked teacher. “I don’t feel safe with a gun in my house.”

Then the messages “Our children deserve a safe world” and “Stop gun violence now,” are plastered onscreen before production credits run, notably lacking any sponsors or collaborating organizations.

The nearly 3-minute video has been viewed more than 284,000 times since it was released on YouTube 10 days ago, and it prompted 5,400 comments, the majority of them critical. Nearly 16,000 viewers gave it a thumbs down, compared to just 112 “likes,” one of which applauds the piece as “truly inspiring.”

Irresponsible is more like it, writes another commentator: “This encourages children to lie and steal. It endangers the children and others, and puts them at risk by encouraging them to handle weapons they probably haven’t had any training with.” Yet another critic weighs in: “Gun safety isn’t about getting people to ‘steal’ guns and give them away but teaching people, children, adults, whomever about gun safety.”

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms even put out a press release detailing the number of crimes depicted in the piece. “We’re talking about felony theft of a firearm, illegal possession of a handgun by a minor, having a gun in a school, illegal concealed carry by a minor, brandishing and maybe one or two other crimes, depending upon the jurisdiction,” wrote chairman Alan Gottlieb on Dec. 22. “…at the very least, the boy in this video would wind up being arrested and face felony charges.” As should the creator, Gottlieb continues: “The message of this video is so monumentally stupid that if any youth does something like this after watching it, the producers should face charges.”

But the filmmaker, Rejina Sincic, tells Yahoo Parenting she stands by the piece and its message. “Kids shouldn’t have access to firearms in their homes,” Sincic emailed Yahoo Parenting, without responding to inquiry about who sponsored the video. “Violent crimes have been committed by children who wrongfully had access to firearms. Society as a whole should take stricter measures to keep guns out of the hands of children.”

Is there value at least in the discussion that it raises? Dr. Paul Hokemeyer, for one, thinks so. “It doesn’t use fear in a gratuitous, salacious way,” the family therapist tells Yahoo Parenting. “Parents can use this as a tool to open a dialogue with their children about the Seventh Amendment, gun control and family well being. They can also use it to let their children know they have a voice that is heard and respected.”

The real danger in this video, says one gun control advocate, is in the unsaid. “Who paid for this and what are their motivations?” asks The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Communications Director Ladd Everitt, noting that “zillions” of people post videos expressing their position on guns. “I’m suspicious considering it only started to get coverage after right-wing media seized on it.” All the uproar this video has raised is “sad,” he continues. “It’s working up good people who mean well and really support gun control.”

And of course, if some mentally challenged son or daughter of a Prius driving liberal parent grabbed a gun, having absolutely no idea about REAL gun safety, looked down the barrel to see if it was loaded and blew their head off, that of course would be the fault of the NRA.

Here is the skinny! No BS just plain facts, something the anti gunners are just to stupid to understand.

Semper Fi !!!

The gun control debate is one of the most hotly contested arguments in America today, and it seems that the talking heads on news channels always find some way to link the newest comeuppance in the country to a lack of gun control.

Only 47 percent of the country supports stricter gun control laws, according to a Gallup poll in October 2014. Also pointed out in that Gallup poll was the fact that 73 percent of Americans don’t think handguns should be banned.

Despite the fact that the majority of Americans don’t support stricter gun laws, many arguments to the contrary still exist. Here are five of the major points anti-gun legislators and proponents bring up.

1. Guns kill people.

The common myth that guns are responsible for the killing of innocent people is one of the anti-gun crowds’ favorites. The fact of the matter is guns aren’t doing the killing; people are. Every person in America is guaranteed the right to bear arms, per the Second Amendment. A minority of the population chooses to abuse that right, and as such have to suffer the consequences. It is the killer’s fault when people die, not the weapon's.

2. Gun control laws prohibit crime.

Anti-gun proponents like to say that legislating against gun use will stop violent gun crimes. However, the opposite may be true.

In her new book "Hands Off My Gun: Defeating the Plot to Disarm America," conservative commentator Dana Loesch writes, “Interestingly, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau and FBI crime reports, the states with the highest levels of gun ownership do not have the highest homicide rates. For comparison, Illinois, which has some of the strictest gun regulations in the country, has nearly three times the gun-related deaths as Alabama, a state which has a roughly 30 percent higher firearm ownership rate.”
3. Only the military should have guns.

Some citizens are of the opinion that guns only belong in the hands of “a militia,” per the language in the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment reads, “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

As is obvious from the text of the Constitution itself, the people have the right to keep and bear arms, even with a standing army in existence.

4. Citizens don’t need guns.

A lot of anti-gun proponents think that the citizens’ need for firearms doesn’t exist. However, many people feel the need and desire to be able to protect their family, should a situation arise in which they need too. Most gun owners hope to never have to use their weapon in self-defense, but appreciate the peace of mind it brings.

5. Guns are for crazy right-wing nuts.

While this phrase isn’t said in so many words, many anti-gun proponents think that gun owners are a bunch of uneducated individuals living on the fringe of society. The truth is that most gun owners are intelligent, good citizens who enjoy shooting for sport or hunting and providing meat for their families.

Anti-gun debates will always exist, but to the informed citizen, it’s easy to debunk the myths of anti-gun proponents and protect basic constitutional rights.

And,...

Gun ownership in America has never been higher (in actual numbers).

Even some liberals are buying guns, even though they probably don't know why.

This ruling is win for the gun lovers of America.

Semper Fi !!!

A federal appeals court denied a lawsuit Tuesday by environmental groups that the EPA must use the Toxic Substances Control Act regulate lead used in shells and cartridges.

“We agree with EPA that it lacks statutory authority to regulate the type of spent bullets and shot identified in the environmental groups’ petition,” Judge David Tatel wrote for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Environmental groups had sued the agency to do so, saying spent lead ammunition posed an “unreasonable risk of injury” to wildlife and humans who would eat the animals they kill. The groups rejected the EPA’s assertion that it lacked the authority to do so.

Environmental groups were challenging an earlier dismissal by a lower court.

“No matter how one characterizes their claim — whether as an effort to regulate cartridges and shells (EPA’s view) or as an attempt to regulate the lead in bullets and shot (the environmental groups’ view) — their petition seeks the regulation of spent lead yet suggests no way in which EPA could regulate spent lead without also regulating cartridges and shells,” Tatel wrote.

The complete destruction and overthrow of the American way of life would be so much easier if it weren't for that pesky Second Amendment and all those damn Right Wing evil gun owners!

At the height of anti-Second Amendment hysteria, it seemed far-from-certain that lovers of freedom would emerge victorious. With President Obama continually lying to the country, touting a fictitious approval rating of “90%” for new anti-Second Amendment laws, with the leftist mainstream media dutifully promoting this narrative and with Republicans being blamed for dead children in Newtown, Connecticut, the “compromise” of a bipartisan anti-Second Amendment law seemed like a distinct possibility.

However, according to a new report from PBS, the Gun Owners of America (GOA) were influential in pushing the much-larger National Rifle Association (NRA) to forcefully denounce the proposed Manchin-Toomey bill that Democrats touted as a “commonsense compromise” that would have devastated Second Amendment rights in America.

In a new PBS “Frontline” special, Gunned Down: The Power of the NRA, the leftist narrative of “gun kill people and the NRA simply doesn’t care” was hammered home. From Columbine to Sandy Hook, the program explored cases of gun violence and placed the onus upon pro-Second Amendment organizations to explain why they continued to fight for our rights even when such rights, seemingly, allowed for carnage.

The program soon explored the Manchin-Toomey proposal that would have limited Second Amendment rights by mandating a national universal background check system that would have required background checks for all gun transfers, except in certain instances between family members.

The bill was brought by two senators- West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin and Pennsylvania Republican Pat Toomey. As the bill was pushed by anti-Second Amendment advocates as a remedy to the kind of violence seen in Newtown, in many cases, such as the Newtown shooting, the firearms were illegally procured and thus, such background checks would only hinder the law-abiding, leaving the criminals to continue with their nefarious pursuits.

Even at the height of national grief, the American people spoke up and the bill was defeated in April of 2013, 54-46. In the PBS special, Sen. Manchin postured as if he could not understand how such a greta “compromise” was rejected.

“I felt this would be something that [the NRA] would embrace. It was truly a time that Wayne LaPierre and the NRA, the leadership, could have rose to another level, complete other level,” Manchin whined.

It is true that many wondered if the NRA would back-down on this important issue and accept this compromise that would be, in reality, a surrendering by Second Amendment supporters. According to the report, however, it was the Gun Owners of America and the National Association of Gun Rights who pushed their members to push the NRA on this important issue, noting that this was not a “closing of loopholes” as Manchin and Toomey represented, but a fundamental reversal of 200+ years of Second Amendment protections.

“The Manchin bill was not aiming at loopholes, it was aiming at nailing down some remaining freedom the American people have. Gun control simply kills people. And for Senator Manchin to wave the bloody shirts of those children from Newtown is despicable,” GOA President Larry Pratt explained.

“We put out an alert saying, ‘Please, if you belong to the NRA, call this guy at this number and ask him to urge the powers that be to oppose the bill,’” Pratt continued.

The result? The NRA, though never having committed to supporting the legislation, received the message that their members would not tolerate such a betrayal. Soon, the NRA slammed-into the legislation with a powerful media campaign aimed at defeating the legislation.

Ultimately, the result was that through all of their blustering, all of their fictitious approval numbers, the American people spoke loudly and clearly and the federal government was unable to pass a single piece of federal anti-Second Amendment legislation.

What this demonstrates is that the power of the people to remain free is even greater than any political maneuvering by Washington lawmakers.

While it may be true that the other Pro-Second Amendment rights groups pressured the NRA not to compromise with the gun grabbers, I am not aware of any such action ever being necessary. The political resolve of the NRA is as strong as it has ever been since I have been a member, and I have been a member since 1978, becoming a Life Member only a few years after that.

Very shortly after Newtown, Wayne LaPierre coined the phrase "The Only Way To Stop a Bad Guy With a Gun Is a Good Guy With a Gun". I don't detect any "compromise" in those words.

Also very shortly after Newtown, British embarrassment Piers Morgan interviewed NRA board member Ted Nugent. I personally promise anyone "Uncle Ted" never considered any sort of "compromise" with the gun ban idiots.

The gun hating liberals aren't going to miss any trick they can pull out of their a** to cut down, restrict or just flat out confiscate peoples guns.
Here is another example of what they are trying to do!!

Semper Fi !!!

Are you a gun owner? Well anti-Constitution nuts out there want to soak you for higher insurance rates just because you own a gun, a new report warns.

The news comes out of North Dakota where the state legislature passed a law that would prevent buttinski doctors and healthcare providers from demanding that patients tell them if they own a gun.

The reasons some oppose this as revealed by the Associated Press is the epitome of nonsense.

Just listen to this absurd "reasoning"...

"Not asking about firearms sets up a physician for malpractice while violating their First Amendment right to free speech," Courtney Koebele, executive director of the North Dakota Medical Association told the committee, the Associated Press reported. "Simply stated, imposing this provision puts physicians in a perilous position and patients at risk."

There isn't the first bit of logic or sense in that gobbledegook.

In any case, Chris Eger explains what the bill really does...

The legislation, HB1241, is sponsored by Minot Republican Rep. Roscoe Streyle.

It aims to modify no less than six sections of the state code to allow for numerous pro-gun reforms. Among these would allow hunters with otherwise legal National Firearms Act-complaint short-barreled rifles to use their guns to harvest game, and authorizing the carry of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

Next, the bill allows concealed carry permit holders to remain armed in establishments that serve liquor as long as they do not consume alcoholic beverages themselves, as well as carry in churches, political rallies or functions, and musical concerts. Currently these are off limits under threat of a Class B misdemeanor, which under North Dakota law carries a penalty of up to 30 days’ imprisonment and a maximum of $1,000 in fines. The law would still allow a prohibition against concealed carry at schools, inside public buildings, and sporting events.

The most controversial issue with HB1241, which brought not only the NDMA but also the medical director of the state Department of Human Services to Thursday’s meeting in opposition, shuts the doors to health care workers from asking their patients about the contents of their gun safe. The language of the proposed legislation strictly forbids inquiring about the patient’s ownership or possession of firearms that are not physically on the patient at the time.

As I noted, another one of the things that the left wants to do is raise insurance on gun owners. They want to punish you just because you might want to observe your second Amendment rights.
